for me it has to be Tamil. Every since I travelled to Tamil Nadu back when I was a teen
I can't forget the look of bewilderment when I read out the headline of a newspaper to a
localman. I didn;t know what it meant but it was only a few letters and I had started
learning the alphabet. ever since ive promised myself that I will learn it to a
proficient level. I don't have the time at the moment.

I've been resisting lately to not learn Chinese. I want to achieve a decent level in Danish first. But that language is fascinating and would give me so much opportunities. My brother started learning the language and I envy him a lot. Let see how it goes in a year. :)

Definitely Korean. I probably wouldn't have gotten this far if I'd had any other choice :D

Mandarin also calls out to me in a similar manner. Sometimes I get this irresistible urge to watch an episode of a Chinese drama, just to listen to the language. So I will probably succumb eventually and start studying. But only when my obsession with Korean lets me...

Those who read my irregularly updated log will know that the language I cannot resist is Romansh. The fact that I spend a lot of my free time on a language spoken by 50.000 persons in the easternmost part of Switzerland, and more specifically on Sursilvan, one of the five variants, or idioms, of this language, which is spoken by about 25.000 people, should be proof enough of how irresistible it is. Thankfully, there is plenty of literature in the language, there is a radio and TV station, and lot of interesting music being performed in Romansh. So although I hardly ever get to speak with a native, I still can interact with the language every day.

For someone who doesn't live in that area, or has no heritage associated, Romansh is a pretty interesting choice. To me it sounds like a Western Lombard dialect with a Portuguese pronunciation and German loanwords.

To stay on topic: I love Polish, it just sounds so melodic with all those consonant clusters.

I've got a soft spot for Latvian. My resistance periodically weakens, especially when I hear it - What does Latvian sound like? and Meet Latvia
