that the yes24.com allowed to preview the first few pages so I guess I'll probably do that. As for children books, following your suggestion last time, I tried but it turns out that, although children shows (like 둘리) do not bother me, I am not a big fan of reading children books. I guess what I am looking for is a book made for adults but with a not too hard writing style and hopefully non-fiction.Would you know anything that could fit? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

아프니까 청춘이다 was recommended to me by two Koreans - I guess two years ago it was a very popular book to read (or receive as a present) in your twenties. It's pretty much an old, supposedly wise guy telling the younger generation not to be too stressed out it seems. I read a few pages and while it's not the most exciting book, the vocabulary is both useful and not all too difficult.
I also read the whole preview of 가난한 집 맏아들 quite a while ago (before reading any novels, I think) and thought it was fairly easy to understand. It talks about the consequences of Korean parents pushing for the education of their eldest sons for the benefit of the whole family, especially during times when that meant making enormous sacrifices. Seems like a moderately interesting topic. I'd probably read this one if I could get it easily here in Germany. That's a huge factor, too... Can you easily get any Korean book you might be interested in? In that case you could post in a place like lang8, asking for non-fiction recommendations by Koreans based on your interests. In Paris, you can basically get anything so finding a Korean book I want would probably not be that hard and in the worst case, there are quite a few websites delivering abroad. Actually your message made me think.. For my 2 first japanese books finished, I read books explaining things (the first about how to use well you time to study in a short span and the second about "what to do in your 20's"). So I might just go with something similar for korean. It is full of useful vocabulary and not that hard usually. So your second book might be nice but I'll look for something maybe even closer to what I just said. Good idea too about posting on Lang8 to ask! 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Quick update :
I cannot stop reading my new book in Japanese (世界の中心で、愛を叫ぶ）! I'm at page 23 already and it is (at least for now) incredibly easy to read! I read a 5 lines explanation about the storyline before starting so I have an idea of where it's going and it makes it much easier to read. I am also at page 14/62 for Tintin in Chinese after (only) 3 days! I had planned 2-3 pages a day but, same thing, can't stop! Apart from that, I've read about 10-12 articles in Japanese already so this challenge will certainly be rocked hard. However I've read "only" 9 와라!편의점. I can't say it's nothing but usually when I start I can't stop (read 6 monday for instance....) Haven't read a single article in Korean either, so it'll be hard! On another note, I've read one article in Norwegian! I mean a proper one! On Klartale about the last Disney film (Frost) and its links to scandinavia and Norway in particular. I've even added some words on Anki! Apart from my challenge, I've watched 2hours and a half of ガキの使い罰ゲーム. It's still incredibly funny and I laugh so SO much. I've also finished episode 2 of Reply 1994 without subs. And Finally I've done the usual: Anki, (reviewed Memrise a bit), exchanged messages in Chinese, Korean, Spanish and a bit of Japanese, and I've talked to clients in Spanish (a LOT), Japanese (spent 35min with some Japanese clients today) and of course English ^^ 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

tonight on the TAC2014 that one of my goals for the TAC 2014 is to (finally) get my korean up to an advanced level and finally read a full book (other than the little prince).
