Промывают мозги людям, чтобы они верили, что Ким Чен Ир и его отец - самые лучшие и
добрые люди в
мире. Как можется делать это целую страну?

I didn't understand the last sentence. What does a desh do in the first sentence?

They brainwash people to believe that Kim Jung Il and his father are the best and kindest
people in the world. How can one do that to an entire country?

Thank you!
Я попытаюсь читать артикль "Правды" по-русски. Вот линк.

I'm gonna do Prof. Arguelles's Scriptorium method with some articles from Pravda. I'm
also going to add the caveat of translating the sentence into English, so hopefully I'll
be able to type you all a translation to tear to shreds. :)

It's been a long day! And yet, I did nothing. Very little. I've been doing scriptorium
with Harry Potter (that cursed book) and I have done... two sentences! That's right,
two loving sentences! Someone told me they spent weeks doing the first page of Harry
Potter in Spanish, and I don't doubt them - it's hard to find the motivation to write
down every sentence and look up every word.
I watched Julie and Julia in French today. Major fail. I've proven once again that my
strength is and always has been in reading. I should keep French up... but... nyeh. My
interests have never lied in being conversational (except with Creole, which has taken
a ... little break). I live in an area without that many speakers of foreign languages
(besides Spanish, my native language :P) and I've always been a voracious reader, so
reading is just more practical for me. But that's no excuse for neglecting my strongest
foreign language.
So tomorrow I have a social gathering, so Russian will be limited. Perhaps I'll bring a
Russian book to read at night. Preferably not Harry Potter.
I was watching this documentary (http://www.vice.com/the-vice-guide-to-travel/wodka-
wars--5) and was disappointed that I could not understand the old woman at all. I keep
telling myself, "My reading comprehension is at an A2 level. Possibly. Nothing to be
ashamed of." My speaking comprehension seems to be that of a dead penguin. A dead
penguin that's deaf. And they still probably hear better than I do.
So since I'm doing TAC, here's my goal.
GOAL:
Reach a B1-B2 level in Russian reading comprehension.
Suck less at spoken comprehension.
Not a very exact goal but WHATEVER. I need something to motivate me.

Dear God, you just gave me the laugh of the week. I soooo look forward to having you on our team. Most heartily welcome!
Sadly my reading and speaking abilities are below yours, but this is the year when we are all going to rock in Russian, right?
Let the party begin!
