penguin that's deaf. And they still probably hear better than I do. |

I think the reason they hear better is because they live in a silent snow country with only one language.
Papapapapa :))))) That's hardly the case here in bustling, multilingual America ;)
Don't worry, you'll rock Russian soon enough! Take advantage of these Skype sessions too.
Have a belated great new year!

Aaaaaaaaa I am so ashamed of myself
I have done very little concerning Russian or even this forum. I guess doing the
scriptorium burned me out. Note to self: never do that again. That is just not the
right technique for me.
I will hopefully be able to catch up on what I've been doing, but admittedly my
progress has been very slowly to the point where I practically stopped doing anything.
*glares at Harry Potter book* I don't think I've ever felt quite as defeated by a book.
I've been getting into computers again lately, and I know if there's one thing Russians
love (besides vodka), it's screwing around with computers. Them Russian nerds be
everywhere. I'm going to try and look up computer related news in Russian and see how
well I understand any of it... I was surprised by my ability to read a Marxist history
book, so perhaps computer terminology will not pose a threat.

Ah, a month has passed since my last post, and I have done little about my Russian. Curse
you, school and curse you too, general laziness. But I plan to get back into daily "doing
stuff in Russian" mode soon enough, so watch this space!

Pravda, one of my favorite sources for long articles in Russian.
I was kind of inspired a while ago when my mother told me that sometimes she understands things in English and she feels inspired to look words up, and then sometimes she doesn't understand anything. It's the same thing I'm going through with Russian... the realization that I'm not alone in feeling this helps me.

I'm sorry to have been absent! Unfortunately I've been very busy with school and extracurricular
activities, so Russian took a back seat. However, I am back now!
Чайка
Гарри Поттер
США проблемы его история
Things I've read in Russian. What I'm reading now :
Russian newspapers
Три сестры
My focus will be on reading as much as I can, and only in Russian. Lets see if I can't finish Chekhov s
plays by the end of the year!

Ok, lynxrunner. You are on.
You read Chekhov's plays, and I'll read the title of Checkhov's plays, and we'll see who finishes first. :-)

I read the summary of "Three Sisters" in English. What a tragically sad story! In the
tradition of Chekhov's plays, I assume. I'm going to try and spend the rest of the day
reading it.
Whenever I feel bad about my Russian, I listen to a Disney song in Russian. I've gotten
pretty good at understanding song lyrics, especially Disney, so it does quite a bit for
my self-esteem. This is important considering how terrible my speaking comprehension is.
I've also done a small bit of work on Swedish. Just a few vocabulary words, is all.
