Great! I really like the app, too. although sometimes I feel silly with a mop in one hand and my smartphone in the other saying "I'm cleaning" "je nettoie", but I figure it's one small way to get exposure while I'm doing other things.

I'm pretty frustrated with HTLAL right now. I keep getting posts interspersed with ö and Ã~ . It makes it even hard to read songlines log because even the French is affected. Well, not "hard to read" but annoying.
I'm trying to get caught up on my 1,000+ anki cards and thanks to Ankidroid, I'm making pretty good progress this week! I have quite a few Assimil decks, some subtitles from movies, some Japanese -- which I haven't been able to really delve into yet -- and a Teeline course of about 100 cards. Anki is great for in between times and it's so much easier to keep up with now that I have my smartphone. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Meine Familie und ich wollen wieder nach Disneyland :p Das letzte mal hatten wir wirklich Spaß und ehrlich gesagt, wir konnten uns für sonst nichts einigen. Zwischen 3 Kindern und 3 Erwachsenen ist es schwer zu einem Konsens zu kommen, was die Urlaubspläne betrifft. Mein Mann wollte nach Italien, aber dann hätte ich am Steuer sitzen müssen. Eigentlich ist es mir recht, wenn ich fahre, aber dieses Jahr will ich nicht so weit weg. Die ganze Strecke stelle ich mir als stressig vor. Wenn ich die Reise auf nächsten Sommer verschiebe, habe ich die Zeit nach meinem Lehrgang, ein bisschen Italienisch zu probieren. Dann gucken wir mal. Ich soll erst bei Französisch bleiben. Wenn ich mehr Zeit hätte, würde ich sprachlich besser. Disney kann mir nicht helfen (leider), aber ich kann zwischendurch Dinge kaufen. Bücher, hallo! ;)
Japanisch liegt weit unten in meinem Ablagefach für noch zu erledigende Sachen. Ich kann Japanisch nicht mal anfassen, so weit weg liegt sie. Ich habe momentan so viel um den Ohren - Sommerkurse und der Kurs für DAF. Ich brauche sehr viel Zeit, Lernmaterialen und Lehrpläne für die Kurse vorzubereiten. Nächste Woche endet einer von den Kursen. Dann habe ich (endlich?) Zeit ..? Ich darf nicht zu sehr daran denken, sonst habe ich das Gefühl, ich werd was verscheuchen. Freie Momente sind für mich selten geworden... edit: I had to type the umlauts back in. I'm gettin kinda tired so if I missed one, let me know! Look at that I've got 1800 posts (+1)! Actually I think I could have not written about 1,000 of those posts and no one would complain ;) It's too bad we can't delete stuff. I'd like to delete some of my old logs from 2008-9. No one looks at them and I'd like to do my part at keeping our database up and running. For what it's worth...
I finally finished Einsendeaufgabe SKR04. It took me three full days of typing on the computer. I sent it off today with about 9 attachments. It feels good to be rid of it. Now I have a much easier Heft -- W0G05 for Word and well, that'll be easy. I think I might finish it by the end of the week and then I'll be caught up in time for August! I'm happy about that. Soon I'll be halfway through the course. I won't finish by the end of TAC, but that doesn't really matter. The main thing is to finish the course. I haven't done any French and Anki is piling up fast. I tried to do some of it today after I sent my Einsendeaufgabe, but my mind must be spent. I couldn't recall cards that I was able to do a few days ago. I'm waiting for my brain to start working again. I'll try to do a few more decks this evening. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Wenn ich nur einen Schwachpunkt zu nennen hätte dann wäre es das Hörverständnis. Ich konnte mich problemlos verständigen, aber immer wenn ich eine Antwort bekam, hatte ich Probleme -- meine Achillessehne im Französischen! Einmal waren wir bei einer Tankstelle und an der Zapfsäule gab's ein Schildchen "payer avant de se servir" oder sowas, aber dann als ich versuchte dem Mann das Geld zu geben, hat er mir gesagt, ich sollte erst tanken. Das war verwirrend. Ein anderes Mal war beim Restaurant: wir waren zu sechs und ich war so stolz alle Bestellungen reibungslos auf die Reihe gekriegt zu haben -- dann musste mein Mann alles komplizierter machen. Er wollte etwas Spezielles darauf haben und die Serveuse hat alle Möglichkeiten so schnell runtergerattert, dass ich nur "du beurre" verstanden habe. Eigentlich wenn man ein fremdes Land besucht sind solche Zwischenfälle normal, aber ich war ehrlich gesagt ein bisschen enttäuscht. Ich hatte gedacht ich wäre gut vorbereitet. Nicht schlimm. Ich habe etwas nachzuholen.
In ungefahr 3 Wochen geht die Schule wieder los. Ich musste heute Schulsachen kaufen. Morgen muss ich wieder arbeiten, aber es sieht so aus, dass ich heute nachmittag ein bisschen Zeit für mich habe also.. .. vielleicht kann ich etwas für mein Hörverständnis tun.. I was never a big fan before, but now Anki has become my best friend as far as French is concerned!
Ever since we got back from France I've started working with frequency word lists. I have only a passive knowledge of most vocabulary and I'm trying to change that. I have 2 lists 1-1000 and 1000-2000. I’ve collected about 68 words out of the first list that I want to study. I’m writing French definitions and some example sentences and putting them into Anki. The second list has about 700 words that I want to find definitions for. I’ve done 77 of them so far and I hope to have all words finished by the end of Sept (I'm not holding my breath). The cards are really long because of the definitions and it takes me much longer to review. I don’t know if I’ll succeed in reviewing everything once 700+ cards are in there, but I’m going to try! I’m hoping I can keep building my passive vocabulary by reading L’Express, but I haven’t been very good about keeping up with that subscription – thank goodness it was only 24 euros. I’ve gone back to Assimil "ohne Mühe" to review all those lessons 80 and above that I spent so little time on. I was always in such a hurry with assimil! (Mental note to self: learn each Assimil lesson thoroughly, no matter how painful it gets!) Podcasts are still difficult for me to understand beyond just getting the gist of what it’s about, so I’m listening to about two per day for practice. I'm hoping the re-work done on Assimil will help improve listening comprehension as well. 1 person has voted this message useful |
