I have this feeling I am simply trolling my way through Italian. Three lessons in and I
don't have to use English to express myself at all, my teacher can content herself with
correcting my pronunciation mistakes (which aren't pronunciation mistakes as much as
simply importing and Italianizing words incorrectly), and once I've seen and read how to
spell them properly in Italian (instead of some kind of Romance mix language, like
indovinare instead of my concoction "devinere"), I can just use it as if it's Italian. I
can even explain complicated opinions in Italian. I don't slow down, I can speak with a
flow that borders on the ridiculous.

Basically, Italian in three weeks? o_O

I can read most Catalan, but can't speak it - no idea about the pronunciation. But I
would prefer to learn good Spanish first.

COnsidering my roommate keeps turning off my internet at random intervals, I often
have to write or study from work, which is extremely annoying (unless I have
downloaded materials beforehand). So I do work diligently with my languages, and
yesterday evening I had internet, so I could speak Mandarin for an hour; but it's far
from ideal, although good so I don't just spend every single day behind my laptop
(because there's not much else to do).

The past days I've mostly read in English (and a few other languages) about the
geological history of the earth and the climate changes associated with it.
Unfortunately there are not many wikipedia entries on this subject in other languages
than English, and when there are, they are hopelessly short. However if you click on
Triassic, there is a fairly large entry for most languages (but inexplicably, the
Romanians have written two sentences; the Romanians obviously don't care about the
Triassic).

However, the Breton entry is seemingly fairly long (although hard for me to read). I
have also perused parts of the Esperanto wikipedia. I should get back to my very weak
languages (they are many), because I think I can manage all the Romance languages at
my current level. I need to pay a bit of attention to Greek still because I still
can't read quickly enough. Mandarin and Hebrew have the same problem, but Hebrew can
wait right now.

I have resolved to finally tackle more characters in Mandarin, which is really holding
me back right now, because my spoken Chinese is quite okay.

Das Leben in Chengde (2. Teil)

About my life in Chengde, part 2. In German. As per usual, excuse my grammar, my German
grammar sucks.
