I also like Zen, but I don't think we should use Satori. I think people in general would associate Zen with Japan, but aside from those interested in Buddhism, I don't think many people will know what Satori is. Even many people studying Japanese might not know it.

Sorry, "tsunami" still brings up images from the Spring of 2011. That was a really tough time here in Japan.

I like Samurai or Zen. You could also say Bushi, for samurai. How about Team Tensai,
meaning genius? We are genius people! :) I don't think Tsunami would be a good name, especially since Japan suffered an earthquake and tsunami not that long ago. Not wanting to send the wrong message here. What do you think? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

They are all good ideas, but for some reason unkown to me, the name has to be something

How about Team Godzilla? (destructive, well-known, inoffensive)

I don't really care about names, so I'm fine even with "U" -- even if for me, as a Spanish speaker, the first things that it evokes are grunting sounds or noises or "uh?". However, I think if we're going to do it, we should do it well, and we need to ask ourselves how team names are perceived from the outside. Let's imagine a language we don't speak at all, and that there's a team called "@%&", or "ltgfrv". How interesting, inspiring, etc. does that sound? I know I won't even have a look at teams whose names leave me with a blank face. The problem with names like Tsunami and such (anything remotely violent, even if not real) is that there always will be someone who finds them too aggressive, offensive, inappropriate, or insensitive to the problems of drunken lemurs. While I'm not up for naming stuff after serial killers or the like, life isn't always pleasant for everyone, and it if were, we'd all be probably bored to death -- isn't the TAC a competition of sorts anyway? If the 'not real' part helps, Godzilla is fine, and I'm not sure about these (universality?) but I like Majinga and Gon -- but let me tell you this right here, right now: if we end up as Team Hello Kitty or something, I'm out ;) Edited by mrwarper on 12 December 2012 at 6:10pm 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Now that I think about it, Team う is growing on me. I guess I get a kick out of seeing
Japanese characters, it personalizes our team, but whatever floats our boat! Team Asahi is a good second, too :) 1 person has voted this message useful |
