Please let me know which DALF book you got and what you thought of it.

It is this one here. It seems to be alright, rather textually centric, which is what I was looking for, comes with a cd of mp3s as well.

*edit* having worked with it a bit today, I think that it will be a decent aid.

Thom.

Dear All,
I hope you have all had a wonderful festive period, and a decent start to the TAC, if you found the time between feasts.

Français:

I spent a half hour this evening working with the afore mentioned book. Seems pretty good. Have been working on the Written Comprehension section, and will make a start on the others after dinner, maybe.

Did an hour or so of reading the book La Peste.

Español:

One busuu module last night, and another today. Bit of a look through my grammar work book.
*edit* I started HP1 in Spanish. Read about two chapters. I am enjoying the feeling of puzzling out the language. I haven't bothered looking up the words I don't know, I just keep reading.

Deutsch:
*edit* I had forgotten that I started reading my German Grammar last night. Got through about thirty pages or so.

Thom.

Fellow HTLALers,

On the eve before I go to Barcelona I will give you a little message to tide you over until we meet again, because I know you can't live without my log posts (at least that is what I like to imagine).

Français:

I am making good progress on the book La Peste.

I have started to do some excercises in my C1/C2 book. Though I will leave it here in France during my little holiday (fear not it is only for three days).

Español:
A few chapters of HP 1.

I went through a page of el mundo reading about the state of Catalan in Spain. 77 words I didn't know, but the pages are chock full of words. So it wasn't too bad. The words didn't impede my understanding anyway.

Did a grammar excercise whilst I was waiting for my go at the Departementale du Travail this morning.

Deutsch:
Nothing really.

I hope you are all having a nice festive season,
Thom.

Feliç 2009 a tot!

Which is my attempt at wishing you all a Happy 2009 in Catàlan, I had fun whilst there but didn't get much language study done. I did however enjoy seeing the similarities to French that exist in Catàlan, makes me kind of want to delve into it. However, I will restrain myself to dreams of a quadralingual life in Barcelona....

Español (Castellano):
I did Pimsleur Spanish 14 and 15 during the flight there.
Read a bit of the papers, tried to understand what everyone said to me etc.

Deutsch:
I just finished doing the first three Assimil Lessons for German. Wrote out everything, did it all nice and everything it it's own book.

Français:
Moving along with my book, bit on the flight back, and a touch this morning.

I will try to get a bit more of each language done this weekend. I start my new job on Monday, so I will see how that affects my studies. I will probably switch my focus back to French with a touch more German, now that my trip to Spain is over.

Thom.

Guten Abend,

Voici ce que j'ai fait aujourd'hui pour mes langues:

Deutsch:

Worked my way through to Lektion 8 of Assimil German *edit* did lesson 8 and half of nine before bed*. I like the start I am off to. I have fun translating the things into French or English, depending on what takes my whimsy.

Español:

1 more chapter of HP 1 before I go to sleep *edit* did German instead*.

Français:

I have had one more lang-8 post corrected.
However, aside from that nothing.

Hope you're all going well, let me know eh? That's what this is for.

Thom.

Language Learners of HTLAL,

Today I didnt get too much study done. I did however have 8 hours of immersion at work today. Does it count? You tell me.

Français
Had a bunch of compliments on my French as well. Either they have really low expectations, or the people who complain about French acceptance of language learners have really bad French :p.

The words that I had to look up today were:

Amiante: Turns out to be asbestos.
Tutelle: dépendance gênant, surveillance; "Tenir sous son tutelle", regime de protection.
Matricielle: relatif aux matrices.
Jalon: Piquet servant de marquer distances et alignements.

Español:

Did one grammar excercise from my book whilst waiting for something to do today.
Listened to 3/4 of MT Spanish, the next cd. Listened to some music this evening.

German:
Tried to start to write my first lang-8 post in German. Then had to work. It is a pain in the arse for studying this work thing.

I remain,
Thom.

All,

Français:
Today I wrote a lang-8 post out at work, you can find it here.

Español:
I wrote half of a lang-8 post. Finished the MT CD on the way to work.

Deutsch:
Wrote a bit more of my lang-8 post, but I realised that I still have a long way to go.

I apologise for the brevity of my post tonight, and the repetition of the word post, I am tired.

Thom.

My dear Readers,

How go your tacs?

For mine:

Français:
8 hours of immersion five days a week = 40 hours of listening/speaking practice this week ;)

One lang 8 post, Finshed La Peste.

Español:
I am now a third of the way through HP1 and finding it easier as a I go along. I am not bothering looking things up, but have picked up a fair bit of vcab, at least passively, as I go.

German:
A few exercises this week, not much.

English:
Read Kato Lombs book, first English book that I have read for a while.

Thom.
