I'm totally in. Studying Spanish. This is probably a bad idea, because I have way too many other linguistic things going on right now, but I just can't resist. I think I'm addicted to six-week challenges, and if we're going to have a Tadoku-style bot too... it's just too much. My mouth is watering as I think about it. I am TOTALLY in.

ETA: Oh, and I'm starting from absolute scratch, never studied Spanish in my life.

Edit again: forgot to mention my username on Twitter, "msklang". I welcome follows and will follow you back!

I think the idea is just to motivate each other to work hard on Spanish for 6 weeks, and see how far we get. We can ask each other for advice and assistance, and compare our methods.

Previously we tried giving updates in the thread here, but I found that not many people updated in there. This time, if we try this twitter idea, then we might see a lot more updates. We'll tweet something to Sprachprofi's bot which will tell it how much work we've done since our last tweet, perhaps measured in hours or something, and then after that an optional quick explanation of what we did during that time. That way other people can see what we're doing as we do it, and perhaps gain inspiration or motivation.

Okay, thanks, I think I understand better now. Since I don't have Twitter, how does this affect things?

I'm totally in! I will be using Assimil, maybe a little FSI, and I'll probably use LL's
Ultimate Spanish just for extra aural practice....

I think I might start a twitter account just for this! I'm psyched!

We're still in the process of setting things up with the bot. Once the bot is written and has a name, then we'll be able to notify it with how much work we've done. As an example, in our tadoku challenge, we do something like "@tadokubot 39 #de #book" which sends a message to the person named "tadokubot" saying the number 39, and uses the "tags" #de and #book, which in this case tell the bot that i'm reading German from a book.

Our bot for the May challenge will be written from scratch by Sprachprofi, so it might work a bit differently. Once it's ready, Sprachprofi will give us detailed instructions on how to use it, so don't worry.

Right now we just need to find some materials to work on. :)
