Well I finished chapters 13 and 14 in Aronson. Basically what I got from 14 is that the
verb ბრძანდება can mean pretty much anything you want it to, so long as you're trying
to be polite!

I liked chapter 14, it was short and seemed very light-hearted compared to the others.
Probably because it doesn't seem as important as most of the other chapters, since it's
about peculiarities and unusually polite speech. The next (aka last) one is about
peculiarities in structure rather than in meaning (exciting). Once I read that one I'll
be ready to move on to the next book. (What's it called again, Expugnator?)

I have been skipping the exercises for the last couple chapters because those are the
most important thing to me and I want to save them for when I have the energy to really
do them thoroughly. Right now I just want to get all the reading over with, and then I
will consider myself done. I know I will be going back to this book quite often in the
future for reference and practice, so that's why I'm not so worried about finishing the
exercises right now. I will be spending a lot of time on them from now on, and not just
the ones I've skipped, but all of them!

Update: I finished ACC dialogue 9. That one was so boring...It's the one where John
fills out a petition to work in the museum archive.

Aronson=Done!

And the last lesson doesn't even have exercises, so all I have left is the reading
passage.

I must say though, I'm a bit disappointed that I'm not a native speaker now, let alone
president of Georgia. I guess I didn't do it right.
;)

Each chapter of the Aronson book is HUGE! I think he aims to make you a native speaker
by the middle of Lesson 4 and president of Georgia by the end of the book. Watch out
Saakashvili, here I come!

Congratulations!! I hope you have a good time with the exercises later.
Have you found the book? I'm gonna start tomorrow, but I'm gonna take it much slower because my Russian is non-existant.

Yeah, I found it. By the way, what do you normally do with the easy chapters at the
beginning? Like where they teach you stuff like, "Es aris saxli" and pronouns and things
like that. I tend to want to skip them, but I'm always afraid I might miss something
useful. Although, in the case of a book like this I might go through them for the
Russian, rather than the Georgian!

I read them for the Russian. This way I get used to the grammar terminology while I still don't have to worry about the Georgian that much. At least that's what I did with the German and it worked fine =)

That's a good idea. I've been going through it for the vocab so far. Mostly the Russian vocab.

Well I'm just about finished with section 2 of the new book. It's kind of giving me a
headache to read the text! But I love how it repeats the same Russian words over and over
again in the explanations. I'm really starting to remember them.
