Started reading Nihonjin no shiranai nihongo -- received the manga from a friend. The drama is pretty funny so I'm quite looking forward to this one.

Our Japanese friend has arrived and will be staying with us for a week.

I find it striking how talking to certain people is infinitely more discouraging than others. I suppose some people have a knack or innate tendency to simplify their speech when talking to non-natives, because some people obviously do not have that ability. Or choose not to use it. My friend fits in that category. As a learner, this is definitely frustrating, but in the long run, I believe I can benefit from this. No easy pass, and it's the kick the butt I've been needing.

If it was easy everone would be doing it...If you work hard you will be one of the few that actually can do it and that means a lot. :) Just give me a shout if there's anything I can do to help you climb the mountain:)

Yes, I read it. It's a very general explanation. I'd like to be able to look up humble and honorific
forms of verbs, such as 見る、食べる... (Well, I know those).

I don't know of a list online but if a book will do, you might try Barron's 501 Japanese Verbs by Roland A. Lange and Nobuo Akiyama. I just got it last week and it has the Honorific and Humble for each verb that has one.

If you want to take a peek at how the book is organized, it has is "Look Inside" feature on Amazon.
