Hello,

I'd like to join tentatively team DE/FR if possible, permitting decisions from current
TAC team for 2011.

Sure, you'd be very welcome to - will you just be doing French and German or will you be
doing something else in addition to them? I'll add you to the draft post I have going and
will post it later today :]

Another update with the confirmed members for the current teams. Keep in mind that you
can be on more than one team (this is a new thing, right? I don’t recall it from last
year).

Balto-Slavic/Finno-Ugric, for students of at least one language from the
Balto-Slavic or Finno-Ugric language groups.

TAC ’12:
Balto-Slavic/Finno-Ugric

a3, cathrynm, Chung, Hribecek, Kisfröccs, mick33, Volte

Team Žá, for students and speakers of at least one Romance and one Slavic
language.

Team Žá
- Romance + Slavic

Serpent, Kerrie, JoãoCorreia, zecchino1991, GRagazzo, tennisace, Amerykanka

Team ‘ne nur’, for speakers of elementary Esperanto (and above) who agree to
study Swahili for at least five hours in 2012 as the "price of admission."

Pre-TAC-
2012: team ’ne nur’

Volte, Sprachprofi, Arekkusu, ellasevia

Team FR/DE, for students and speakers of French and German.
Bjorn, LanguageSponge, oziohume, Spanky, Adrean

Sinitic/Germanic, for students of at least one Germanic and one Sinitic
language.

Magdalene, Luna_Moonsilver, NickJS

Individual Challenge Participants

Some more possible teams, which’ll become established if two or more people per
potential team give their explicit confirmation.

Japanese – morozko (perhaps; your focus seems to be on Mandarin), Sunja, g-bod

Polish – Vos, meramerina, Amerykanka

Romance Languages – garyb (FR, IT, maybe ES), mcsice (ES, maybe IT or FR),
Cavesa (FR, ES; but that’s if the FR/DE team doesn’t snag hir first…)

Rarely Studied Languages – suggested by Mani (KU, LB) in Message 12 of this
thread. I love this idea, and I’d be in with my on-and-off Vietnamese study. I’d like
to find out if some others are interested.

Also, are the members of 2011’s Team KEN and Team Ohana interested in
remaining together for next year’s challenge?

I'd love to be on a Japanese team! May I start it? In spirit of the current Japanese Team あ 2011, we could just adopt the next vowel い for the team 2012. It has a nice continuity to it!

If anyone has another name in mind then please post! The Japanese team needs members (and a name)!

I'd be very up for a French and German team, too. Skimming through this thread, I have
myself, Spanky, oziohume, Cavesa, Bjorn and possibly Jinx, if she chooses to join, down
as studying French and German and possibly wanting to form a team around this.

PS - I also have a thread drafted basically outlining that information formally. If the
people concerned would let me know what they think, I'll post it.

Jack

Yikes, sorry Jack! I had overlooked your earlier post. This is coming together nicely, and it would be awesome to snag Jinx in as well for the team if we can. If you have something drafted, I would be interested in seeing it.

Cheers.

Sure, I'm in for a DE/FR team! The coming year will probably end up being another 95%-German-and-5%-lots-of-other-languages year for me, so it makes sense to me to hop on board with you guys. How is the draft post looking?

I'd like to propose a Catalan team and if that can't garner enough support then I'll gladly join another one. I'm
doing an A2 diploma next year but should really be pushing on for B1-B2 before the end of the year.
