Thanks for the offer Serpent. As soon as I know if I'm going to participate or not (most likely will) and if the team
ends up getting a few solid Polish/Spanish learners together, then sounds good.

If it's indeed possible to be on more than one team this year, I'd tentatively be interested in the
Finno-Ugric one.

I don't mind this idea either, for example if a really good Polish team was to form and also a really motivated
Spanish team, then I'd most certainly like to be a part of both. Would anyone have any objections to people being
a part of more than one team if this kind of thing were to happen? It's kind of evolving into something slightly
different now.

I actually like the idea of being part of more than one team, although I can see that it could get time-consuming to check 10-15 people's logs. I think the payoff would be worth it towards the end of the year, though, when there are only a few left. =)

So I joined the TAC 2011 with the intention of improving my Spanish and beginning French and German. Well I failed miserably. School took over and I just lost motivation. Well I've decided to change that this year. And seeing the Romance and Slavic Group has increased my desire to learn Croatian (or Serbian or Bosnian) while trying to get to fluency in Spanish. I might even try to learn some French as well. So I'll be joining for Spanish, French, and Croatian.

Is there any Chinese or Asian language teams going at all, or will there be?

well, as of now there's one member learning both Polish and Spanish and three more members learning Spanish :)
now you're tempting me to try out some Polish too...

BTW I'd like to mention/announce that while technically Latin and Esperanto aren't Romance languages, they also count:)))

Alright, now that I know that I'm going to move to Croatia next year, I think I'm ready to declare my participation. Naturally I want to focus on developing my Croatian all year, but I'll also continue to actively work on Japanese, Persian, Swahili, and Russian. All are at levels varying between complete beginner and low intermediate. I'm still unsure of my specific goals for this year, aside from wanting to reach B2 in Croatian.

Team Ne Nur sounds intriguing... I think I shall post in their Pre-TAC log.

There's nothing wrong with starting one if you don't see anything relevant yet.

Just wanted to say that doing an individual TAC is also an option for those interested.
The requirements are the same—basically, studying and posting occasionally—but without
the encouragement and/or pressure of having teammates.

I put together a provisional list of the current established teams.

Balto-Slavic/Finno-Ugric, for students of at least one language from the
Balto-Slavic or Finno-Ugric language groups.

TAC ’12:
Balto-Slavic/Finno-Ugric

a3, cathrynm, Chung, Hribecek, Kisfröccs, mick33

Team Žá, for students and speakers of at least one Romance and one Slavic
language.

Team Žá
- Romance + Slavic

Serpent, Kerrie, JoãoCorreia, zecchino1991, GRagazzo, tennisace

Team ‘ne nur’, for speakers of elementary Esperanto (and above) who agree to
study Swahili for at least five hours in 2012 as the "price of admission."

Pre-TAC-
2012: team ’ne nur’

Volte, Sprachprofi, Arekkusu, ellasevia
_____
There are a lot of people studying both French and German next year (Spanky, Sunja,
Bjorn, Cavesa, oziohume). Are any of you interested in being on a combo FR/DE team
like this year’s Team ÇÜ?

As for me, I’m interested in being part of the Team TAC with German and
Mandarin. Luna Moonsilver and NickJS, maybe a combo Sinitic/Germanic team is in
order…?
