I was revising some French sociolinguistics today, and realized that I *do* feel much more comfortable speaking French out loud than English. This is somewhat sad. English used to be my forte... |

Surely there is no shortage of people to speak English with online. Isn't that what Skype is for?

Of course, but Skype does kind of freak me out. :/

HUNGARIAN
Yesterday I started Hungarian! I did the two first Assimil lessons, and Assimil made me feel confident about the pronunciation part again. It feels ridiculously easy compared to Russian, and so far the language seems very logic. I also watched "Kontroll" to celebrate the day. It was an OK film, with some really good scenes. And a girl in a bear costume. Say no more!
Today I brought some 25 of my flashcards that I bought in Hungary with me to work, and I think I more or less managed to learn them, but I will revise them thoroughly tomorrow nevertheless.
Tonight, if I have the time after my French exam, I will do the first Pimsleur together with the third Assimil lesson.

Best of luck with your Hungarian!!!
So, you're using Flashcards and Assimil (+ film(s)? Anything else?
Good luck
TEL
PS. What does the (#lal) on your (and other's) log title mean?
Thanks

TEL: It means that we are part of the #learnanylanguage channel. Know that and tremble in fear.
Tricoteuse: I hope your exam went well.

Thank you!
Right now it will be Assimil + flashcards + music and perhaps Pimsleur, if I can stand it :) Then after a while I will start with my children's books and then with novels, as soon as possible. I bought a bunch of stuff when I was in Budapest.
It stands for the irc channel #learnanylanguage on Freenode where a bunch of us hang out. You should come join us!

How do you get on Freenode (and channels).
I don't already have any software for it.
If you need any stuff, I got a whole page of handy links for my langs. which I can look through for Hungarian resources.
Here's one:
http://www.teachers.ash.org.au/aussieed/otherlanguages_europ ean.htm#hung
It's not huge (for Hungarian, for other langs. it is), but you may be interested in a few bits on it.
Thanks

Thanks TEL, I'll check it out later. For now, I'm quite good!
If you don't use Mozilla Firefox, then start doing it now and get the Chatzilla addon. Then just choose network when you start the program (Freenode) and go to the "join channel" or "search for channel" or whatever it says, and write "learnanylanguage". It is very easy, and there's surely some tutorial for Chatzilla if something is unclear :)

If you are using Firefox, the easiest way is to download the Chatzilla application for Firefox, here: Chatzilla
Otherwise there are plenty of easy to use applications, which someone else will suggest.
