Vos - Ja, ik vind het bijna jammer dat die stemmen zo lekker knap zijn, op kantoor kan ik er niet naar luisteren
want ik zou dan zeker lekker in slaap vallen, of gewoon te relaxed worden. :-P
(Sommigen? Weet ik veel...) Dutch Nog een paar pagina's in De ontdekking van de hemel gelezen. Ik heb pagina 57 bereikt. Verder! Voor iedereen die van satire houdt: ik geef je De Speld, een online tijdschrift die een beetje op The Onion lijkt. Kijk eens naar het hoofdartikel van de afgelopen vrijdag, 'Nederlandse regering wil weten waarom Rutte niet is afgeluisterd' ('Dutch government wants to know why [Prime Minister] Rutte is not bugged'). Indonesian I did more wordlists today. They really do seem more effective for me personally than Anki. Or maybe just more enjoyable? Anyway, today I also reviewed the Wikibooks lesson on telling time in Indonesian. Delightfully, Indonesian also says "half 3" to mean "2:30", just like in Dutch. I wonder if they have always done it that way or if it's a holdover from the Dutch occupation. There are technically more Wikibooks lessons, but the quality seems to take a nosedive after this one. It looks like I am being driven back into the firm, loving arms of the Assimil now. Small note - I am going to drill numbers hardcore on my next wordlist, as Indonesian numeral names are vastly different from English, Dutch, and French ones. I watched three episodes of this new show I found, Je Zal Het Maar Zijn. It reminds me a little of This American Life (the radio program) but more pop culture-y. I highly recommend it, especially to you, Vos, as it's a bit like De Wandeling too. The episodes I watched: - Je Zal Het Maar Zijn: di 29 okt 2013 - No title, but it's about a prepper, a friend of the dude who does Zwarte Piet is Racisme, and a lady who trades sexy times for furniture. - Je Zal Het Maar Zijn: Bijzondere relaties - Je Zal Het Maar Zijn: In de ban van je uiterlijk Aaand a Super Challenge update: Films: 88/100 Books: 9 "Books": 23.5/100 (as of De aanslag) My hope is to finish the film part and De ontdekking van de hemel by December 31; I think that would make me happy. Obviously at this point the books part isn't going to happen by the end of the official challenge, but I still like keeping track of what and how much I read, so 10,000 pages might stay as a personal goal for later. Indonesian Just did some word lists. You know, the uge. Thanks to iguanamon, I also now have this super-fab collection of links to Indonesian resources, including Indonesian BBC and much, much more. I've only really looked through the Indonesian BBC - tried to read some articles and such, just get a feel for things - but yeah, this is suuuper rad awesome. Side note - I totally cracked the other day and got Assimil French With Ease. Yesterday I read to page 78 in De ontdekking van de hemel. It was a good reading day; I felt like I could really see what was happening in the story in almost like hi-def. Sometimes, depending on how abstract the narrative gets, I can't reach that level and it's like feeling out the action in the story through a blanket. But yesterday was good. Indonesian So apparently I've been doin it rong. Assimil, that is. I recently stumbled across this nicely informative article and realized, oh my goodness, I could not have been more off. Before, basically, I was listening to the audio 1-2 times, writing out the sentences in my notebook, making a little vocabulary list, and calling it a day. Just way not enough listening and too much mindless copying. Today I went back through Assimil Lesson 1 as per the instructions of the webpage I linked and things just felt like ten times more effective. I'm actually looking at Assimil a little differently now. So I think I'm going to go back to the beginning and do Assimil this way. I've only done ten lessons anyway so there's not much to backtrack, and I think it's really important to get the foundation solid. Other than that, I have been keeping up with ye olde wordlistes. Today: - Je Zal Het Maar Zijn: Mensen met een dubbele identiteit Ik schrijf ook wat over mijn avond, want ik vind het hoe dan ook leuk om af en toe iets in het Nederlands te schrijven. Vandaag ging ik met mijn huisgenoot naar een meet-and-greet voor illustratoren. Het grappige was dat ik niet een van de illustratoren was: ik was een van de mensen die hun portfolio's beoordeelde. Gek, hè? Je zal maar denken: Maar Hekje, je studeerde net af! Je bent geen professionele lerares of zo, hoe kan je dan portfolio's beoordelen? Dat slaat nergens op! Ik ben het met je eens. De ervaring deed me denken aan in een film zijn of zo, alsof ik de hoofdrol in een tv-programma aan het spelen was. Niets voelde werkelijk. Het was echt een New York-achtige nacht, met al die vreemden om me heen en het gevoel dat alles en nog wat kon en zou gebeuren. Indonesian Assimil 2, the "right" way, and word lists. I find that trilling the r at the end of words is still kind of challenging right now for me, but I'm working on it every day. I've also finished all my numbers word lists. Feels good man. I should note that I rode mnemonics pretty hard for those; mnemonics have been like, my best friend while approaching this new and pretty foreign vocabulary.
