New exercise I've invented: going on language exchange sites, checking out the French entries of Anglophones, and comparing them to the *corrected* versions posted by Francophones. Then I can use flashcards and my own writing to get the idiomatic phrases and corrected grammar into my head. :-)

I scheduled a one-hour session for Friday with a French tutor on italki! Since I've never spoken French with a single soul in my life, I imagine this will be pretty nerve-racking.

And I just realized minutes ago that I scheduled this session for 2:00 - 3:00 AM Friday, i.e. in the middle of the night about 11 hours from now, when I meant to schedule it for 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. LOL!

Oh well, it's too late to change it at this point (at least if I want to have it tomorrow), so I'm just going to stay up tonight and go for it anyway. :-)

That's pretty funny. - Best of luck; I look forward to hearing how it went!

Well, thirty-five minutes into the hour and the person who was scheduled to tutor me seems not to have gotten on Skype (at least, Skype says my text messages couldn't be delivered, and trying to call them didn't work either). And they aren't on italki at the moment, either, so I have no way to contact them.

Looks like this is a bust.

Sorry to hear that. Did you manage to spend the waiting time doing some extensive reading or Assimil lessons, at
least...?

Not really, I spent the bulk of it flailing around making sure that my Skype wasn't the problem and that I hadn't missed any special protocol for how to do a tutoring session. Time for bed I guess. :-/

That's not reassuring; I've been thinking about doing conversation lessons through Italki with a tutor, with the hope that people might be a bit more reliable and serious when there's money involved. Apparently not :/ or maybe you were just unlucky.
