Hier j'ai fait une session avec ma tutrice sur le conditionnel -- d'habitude je ne l'utilise pas dans mes conversations parce qu'il n'est pas encore "automatique." J'ai parlé deux fois cette semaine avec un français (en français et en anglais) pendant une heure et demi.

Tastyonions - how did you find your skype/internet speaking instances? Were they paid or
just language exchanges? I've been thinking of trying to get some speaking practice in, though I am pretty poor in that regard, anything you'd recommend? 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

I found my tutor (paid) at italki.com and my exchange partners at sharedtalk.com.
Other than finding a tutor and conversation partners? Try doing your Assimil active phase out loud before you write it down each day, and practice saying each sentence until it comes out as a fluid unit. Also in your free time try to tell a story or explain something in French, always making complete sentences and (again) repeating them until you can say them fluidly without significant pauses. Quelque chose d'intéressant m'est arrivé ce matin : lorsque je me suis levé, j'ai commencé à penser en français (<- cette phrase sonne mal [é, é, è]). Ce n'était pas une question d'effort, mais c'est arrivé tout simplement. En plus c'était un peu étrange parce que hier soir j'ai écrit une réponse sur SharedTalk mais à part ça je n'ai rien fait en français -- ma fiancée et moi, on est sorti pour dîner et puis on a regardé un film (en anglais), "The Master" (en passant, le film est bien fait mais bizarre).

Parfois il y avait une ou deux phrases que je n'ai pas compris, mais la grande majorité de l'émission était compréhensible sans trop d'effort (et elle était très intéressante aussi). Enfin j'ai rencontré quelqu'un sur Verbling et la qualité de son était bonne (un miracle :-P) ! On se parlait pendant vingt-cinq minutes (en français et en anglais).
