Have any of you used both the older (1950s) Assimil Russian Without Toil and the newer Le Russe Sans Peine? (Well, I have the Spanish-base version, but I believe they are the same).

I am debating which one to use, as I'm starting to study Russian now. I don't know if I have the complete audio for the 1950s version, but I'm pretty sure I can find it if I choose to go that route.

It seems like the older version might be a little more thorough in some respects, and it's in base English, but my copy of the book is literally falling apart (and hard to read). My Spanish version still seems thorough, and I think it would be beneficial for me to learn through my second language as well.

Does anyone know if either is particularly better or worse than the other? I will probably be supplementing with other materials (Michel Thomas, Modern Russian, and maybe the Penguin course), so it won't be the only source I'll be using.

Any guidance from all you Russian-learning experts would be appreciated. =)

I think that the new version of Assimil El Ruso sin Esfuerzo is very good. It is very useful that you can download the audio CDs in your cell phone, in order to listen and listen over and over and over again, at home, while driving, etc. It is also a good idea to supplement it with another source, but probably only in order to solve some doubts the Assimil left unanswered.

Hello everybody:
I wonder if it would be time to do again the skype sessions. Next Sunday, perhaps?

If you by next Sunday mean the first Sunday, I am in Andalucia in Spain then, but I would be available the next Sunday. If you take it the first Sunday, I'll be with you in the spirit :-)

I think Sunday April 22 would be fine. I think also that we could work with dialogue 3 and perhaps select something from Russian simplified news, in order to practice reading. What do you think?
