Was there a post about page counts for childrens books which generally very little text and lots of pictures? I'm thinking of starting with two different translations of Peter Rabbit.

I think we went with a children's book counting as 1/5 of a book if it had big letters, pictures or few pages.

Just to be clear. If I write:

@langchallenge I read a #book with 1010 pages called "The Invisible Book"

it automatically counts it as four books, right?

And what about writing? I'm not sure I could write 200 words in one essay, so I might have to count several shorter things together. Will it add up the words by itself so that if I post three essays at 60 words , 70 words, and 80 words, it will count as one essay? Or should I wait until I get up to 200 words and then post it as one essay.

Also, are we allowed to give the names of the books in foreign scripts? I wouldn't want to give your bot a nervous breakdown by writing Japanese.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do all this programming. I'm sure it took many hours of hard work. I'd invite you to come stay with me too, but my apartment is so small, I'm not sure we could both fit in it at the same time. Also, although Steinkjer is considered to be located at the geographic midpoint of Norway (at least by some calculations), I'm not sure it has much else of interest.

Ok, everyone, just one more day to wait. Before we start I need to know the following:

1) Are there any more questions/doubts as to how to count things? As I said, you can always use your own judgement when in doubt, but if there is anything you would like "a ruling on" you can always ask.

2) Has everyone who wants to participate remembered to register in the other thread? Some of you declared your language and your challenge in this thread, but please remember that it is the special thread for Super challenge registration and update, under the log section which is the correct one.

REGISTRATION THREAD

3) Have you also remembered to register on the Super Challenge Twitter bot? This is not compulsary, but I recommend that you do. It is easy and fun to use. However if you know that you will not use it then please let me know now, in this thread. Then I can keep an extra eye on your updates, and include you when I make my periodical comments.

Any other comment you would like to make?

I don't tweet !

It may have been asked, but does the challenge begin on 1 May of our own local time? It's 5 hours and 53
minutes away for me and I just want to know because i'm tempted to stay up past midnight to read :P

Yes, it is probably easiest to do it that way, so it aligns with the other challenges. And since we have the day off tomorrow, I am also contemplating staying up and watch at least half a film right after midnight :-)

you have the day off? lucky! Tuesdays are my worst day! As a uni student, few days can actually be that bad,
but I start class at 9am until 10am, have to get into the city, work until 5 and then get back to uni and have
class from 6-8. I don't get home until 9pm and my brain is always fried, not to mention I am ALWAYS hit with
insomnia the night before.

I'm really tempted to go to bed now (it's almost 7pm, not so bad) and then get up at midnight, read for 4
horus or so then go back to sleep for a while. very tempted.
