"Advices" is very unusual (if not outright incorrect) as the plural form of advice.
I thought I'd point it out since its an important word.

Where have you pointed out your problems with the awesome Russian text that asks for
commitment from the students?

Oh, never thought that such an easy word could possibly turn out to
be a tricky one. Thanks for pointing it out!
As for that textbook - page 19 and some pages after that. I already
rereading it and I feel how my motivations wears thin. Still I think that
it wouldn't be right not to use our cases in order to understand
German ones better.

Serpent, erm, I didn't know about any of these facts. But my point stays straight: I want to speak now, I want to stop being afraid of all the irregularities of German and just push through. That show somehow motivates me. Speaking of level: watched third lesson and felt really terrible, things are mixing up and I don't know what to say whereas students have done drilling and most of them knows what's going on. |

I'm glad it motivates you, but it does contain mistakes :S like that "wen/wem" thing you mentioned.
If you like the format, you'll like Michael Thomas. Both courses use actors as students, afaiu - mostly because an ordinary person could be camera-shy, but also because for an actor it's easier to find confidence from the beginning. And at least in the Italian "show" there was one woman who used to be fluent but"forgot" the language, and who also speaks French. It's not as impressive as they make it look...

and it's different but I think "Deutsch? Warum nicht!" would help you systemize your existing knowledge.

I had dealt both with Michel Thomas and Deutsch - Warum nicht?
already. First one was hard sometimes and it's strictly English-
based, which means that I'm to listen about typical English mistakes
and accept all similarities to English as simple and kinda obvious
things. They aren't like that to me. I went through Foundation course
and when I started Advanced I was overwhelmed and everything was
difficult. Plus, I'm bad when it comes to listening, and Michel
Thomas's accent isn't doing great for me.
Petrov's accent isn't excellent either, but it's easier for me to
understand anyway.
As of Deutsch - Warum nicht?... well, I've found it entertaining as a
good story, but it didn't really help me with grammar, I forgot
everything that was there months ago.
P.S. Wen/Wem is my bad. A person who hadn't dealt with German
before would be just great :)

It has glossar in Russian, and I think also a workbook in Russian.

No, I haven't come across Russian Themen Aktuell workbook, but I do have the books and I might use them someday. The problem is the same: I tend to drop all methods anyway :(

I'm listening to German songs only for a while. This and other thoughts led me to another try of going through Michel Thomas. I've listened to CD1 of Foundation Review. First half was excellent, almost no problems, good recovery, But then the horror came, I totally failed complex sentences. Guess I need to listen more. But it's so damn boring :( and, as I've told before, it's hard for me just because it's audio. Anyway, I'll see what I can do. Maybe I should switch to Paul Noble?
