Edit:
I suppose this is the appropriate occasion to say something about my level in Norwegian and Danish, too. The short version is that I'm probably a solid A0 in both, in terms of active skills, and I decided there's no point in writing in Swedish with pseudo-Danish/Norwegian spelling, which by the way, would have been a stretch with my current abilities. The challenge is a fun idea, however, and I think it's worth revisiting in say three or six months. Are you in, Jeff? ;-)

I understand what you guys write but I can't write anything interesting myself :)

or can I? I can mix and match a bit of Assimil at least.

(I loved this word but I've only practised pronouncing it and never typed it before:D)

the time hasn't run out but i can't think of anything else to say. i've done 8 lessons of Assimil Norwegian and listen to two more lessons:D

edit: corrections welcomed btw:) i've now remembered on my own that "at" shouldn't be there after vil in both cases, oops.

edit2: looked up the correct spelling of jordbærsyltetøyet. i did think it should be y rather than u, but then I thought how the u sounds like that too...

Oh, there's always more to be learned. I'm not very confident about speaking or my pronunciation, so those are what I'll be focusing on for Swedish. But that's something of a side-show, really, as my participation in the team is based on the premise of taking on Danish and Norwegian with other beginners. Always nice to hear a compliment, though. ;)

Edit: Serpent, it's probably the long u that sounds similar to the short y in your ears. I had some real trouble pegging those down after many years of listening to my Swedish teachers who all spoke finlandssvenska. With the Finnish, the Swedish-proper, and the finlandssvenska u and y sounds all being quite similar to one another, it got to be pretty confusing at times. In fact, I'm still working on producing these sounds with greater fidelity. Thankfully, hearing the difference hasn't been a problem for some time now.

And I couldn't resist trying Swedish too, with google and wiktionary.

picked Porvoo just randomly because I wasn't sure about the n's in Finnnnland and had no time to check. poor Vaasa hahaha. it's lovely but just too tiny compared to Moscow:/

lol what a fail. i know the Swedish name for Vasa just like about 10 other cities in Finland, but I'm so used to just typing Finnish place names the way they are that I forgot. Borgå is more different from Porvoo so it just popped in my head easily.

@Julie : Nice going! You did exactly what I meant, and for
having learned Swedish for just two months your Swedish is absolutely amazing! I would
have guessed two years! I understood everything you said. Great start!

Thank you! Tack! I'm glad you understood everything, and that the last two months paid
off! The only thing I'm truly good at though is paraphrasing ;). I had no idea how to say
"spoken Swedish" and "a real book", but I tried to get the message across anyway ;).

Would you (or anyone else who speaks Swedish) correct my mistakes in the text, please?
(Apart from the obvious ä/å mix-up, and the title of Lindgren's book.) This would be a
tremendous help!
