As I predicted, I didn't do much this week. Aside from SNSD, one thing I did start back up was reading internet articles, and I found the perfect site for me: Newsen, since it's Korean entertainment news. Severe lack of vocab is the main thing holding me back, but I think I understood around 5-15% of the articles I read, mainly because the same words are used over and over again. I'm doing this without a dictionary, mainly to learn vocab in context, and see how much easier it gets after I learn more vocab in another way.
*goes back to listening to 'Oh!'*

I decided to keep the time tracking as just an experiment, mainly to see how I distribute my time. While I spend significantly more time listening to music and watching dramas/tv/movies, etc., well, those are part of the reasons I'm learning the languages. Besides, I know where I need to spend more time on. Keeping track of time is also time consuming. I'll be getting rid of all the numbers as well, since that makes it feel like an obligation instead of a motivator. I'll just have it go back to a normal log.

Ah, it feels great not logging the times anymore. This week, I spent less time with vocab and kanji and spent more time on grammar. In my grammar books, I decided to go with a faster pace and after I'm done, go back through a little slower before I go through the books doing the scriptorium. Been listening more, since I listen to the radio in both languages (not at the same time) while taking notes out of textbooks for school.
Earlier I watched Oldboy and it's been a few months since I've seen a movie that kept me on my toes the whole time.

If I was learning German, I could say I listened to it a lot the past few days. My dad and I watched a bunch of the Hitler parody videos over the weekend. Great stuff.
With the grammar, I felt like I've learned a lot. I'm going for breadth at the moment, and it's helping, since I've seen a lot of these structures used but was never taught what they meant in my textbooks. Probably in about two weeks I should be done with my very first time through all of my grammar books, then going back to solidify everything.

My actual studying has slowed down a bit, but the amount of passive listening has gone up, because I listen to Taeyeon's Chinhan Chingu as I take notes out of my textbooks. Gotta study since I have a test Wednesday, a quiz Monday, and 4 midterms the first week of March.
I'm also trying different things with vocab. I forget a lot of words since I'm too lazy to spend 5 minutes reviewing, so I'm just picking 30 or so new words a day and reviewing them multiple times a day, along with older vocab.
Also, I think by the time my spring break is over, I should be done with my first run through my grammar books.

I spent most of this weekend watching Korean variety shows (Invincible Youth, Family Outing (both seasons), Infinity Challenge, Let's Go Dream Team, T-ara.com, 1 Night 2 Days), some anime, and the movie Honey & Clover. Very little actual study, but lately I haven't had much time to watch a lot of stuff, so it was refreshing.

Yesterday, I checked out Youtube to see if 카라 had anything new (since they just had a new mini-album come out Friday, so I was assuming they would have a new single out) and ended up spending a couple hours clicking the various "related video" links. There are some very odd shows in South Korea. For example, one of the shows I happened upon clips from was "Hello Baby" where participants "play like they are babies" (there were several clips showing various 소녀시대 members on that show)...what the...!?
Also, I came across several clips from the SBS Music Festival. I've seen several videos before of group performing covers of songs from a group of the opposite gender (mostly at the MBC Dance Battle competitions and usually very hilarious), but they had some pretty strange ones there. For example, members from 2PM performing 티아라's "Bo Peep Bo Peep" (complete with ears, paws, and tails) is very...disturbing. o_O
Oh and something that could likely belong in the "Language Nerd thread": I found a music video of 카라's "Wanna" (I have seen most of their MVs, but not that one), so I fired it up and realized it was subtitled in English...interesting. I got about halfway through the video and realized I had no clue what was going on in the MV as I had been watching the translated lyrics the entire time...oops.
Most of my Korean studying lately has consisted of watching Let's Speak Korean videos (the season hosted by Lisa Kelley and Stephen Revere) and reading through the "Survival Korean" and "Survival Korean: Basic Grammar" books (both written by the aforementioned Stephen Revere).
UPDATE: The new 카라 music video *is* actually out...I guess it just hadn't hit YouTube yet when I checked yesterday, but it's up on http://yoobin-hq.skyrock.com in 1080P today.
