Pretty much. But like I said, I rarely ever use German and I don't really study or write
in it a lot. I just speak it once or twice a year; and in those cases I am always
understood. The problem arises when people start speaking with a strong Bavarian, Swiss,
Viennese etc. accent ;)

I guess it's the same problem that I have with strong Scottish or Yorkshire accents, although I have become a bit more accustomed to them... ;)

Hi everyone! I’m Jack and I’m 22 years old. I have been studying Russian for about five
years but my passion for German distracted me from Russian shortly after graduating
from uni in July of last year. My love for Russian came about at the age of 16 when my
uncle gave me a collection of Russian short stories as a Christmas present. The first
story I read all the way through was called “The Fox and the Rolling Pin”. As well as
my passion for the Russian language, I have loved Russian history since I was 10. I
know very little about the ancient history of the Slavic peoples, but I have a keen
interest in the social history of the Soviet Union. I really enjoy learning about the
Nuclear Arms Race and the Cold War. I am an avid reader and am capable of reading a
book in two days, but I read very interesting books slowly because I want to make them
last.
@Solfrid Cristin - Hi! Yes, I do remember you tried to convince me to come on board
last year. I wonder now why I didn't! Anyway I am here now and the here and now is what
matters.
I am off now to read some of your logs from TAC 2012. I am looking forward to working
and learning Russian with all of you! Bring on 2013!

Я надеюсь, что "последнего года" было просто ошибкой. Или вы верите в предсказания о
конце света в этом году?

Hello, everyone! :) My name is actually Charlotte but I just tend to use Luna in my
usernames, so whichever is fine. I'm a newbie to the Russian team this year - and in
fact a newbie to Russian in general; I've been doing the Assimil challenge but have
(sadly) fallen behind, so I'm only on lesson 6! :(. Russian is a language I've wanted
to study for years (I originally wanted to do a degree in it but went to a different
university than I intended, so I do Mandarin now instead...), but I kept putting it off
and putting it off until I saw the Assimil challenge come up and thought: well, that
seems like it wouldn't be a bad idea ;). Apart from Russian, I'm also learning
German, Mandarin and Korean, so I've got a nice little array of languages there.
I have - uh - been trawling through logs all afternoon (seriously, there are
pages of interesting stuff there), so I'm sure I'll get around to commenting at
some stage, if I can bring myself to think of something beyond 'wow, your log is soooo
long and interesting'. Haha. I'm excited to spend this year working with you all!

Здраствуйте, Марк
Я не верю в предсказания о конце света в этом году, это было просто ошибкой. Я очень
редко перечитываю сообщения. Спасибо за испарления. Я всё понял, что вы написали.

Hi Luna,
Before I go on with the slightly more serious business, your username will forever
remind me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. I'm probably a bit too big a fan of Harry
Potter for my own good.
Anyway, welcome to Team Russian! You do have a good mix of languages there, I think.
Good luck with them all. Don't worry about falling behind with the Assimil Challenge; I
imagine your pace will quicken a bit when we all start the new Challenge. I'm looking
forward to speaking Russian again, I haven't really spoken much since my final uni
exams.
Now I'm off to read more logs and learn a little more about my team mates before the
2013 Challenge creeps up on me. Удачи!
Jack

It's great to see over half a dozen familiar friendly faces in our Russian team for the 2013 TAC, and let me also extend a big hearty Russian welcome (along with a colourful virtual spread of салаты, пельмени и советское шампанское) to our new members too: Luna Moonsilver, Bbcatch08, Josquin, TheGreaterFool, Emme, LanguageSponge, Brun Ugle, and Expugnator. I sense next year's chalenge is going to be simply amazing!

It will be for sure. Besides, do we need a Captain? I suggest Cristina if we do decide
that we need a captain :)

It's great seeing most of my friends from last year, and a super huge welcome to all the
newcomers! Luna, I also remembered Harry Potter when I saw your name, I'm such a huge fan
of HP :)
Looking forward to working with everyone again this year, as well as following all your
logs. I'm still debating whether to start a new thread or keep the old one. Oh, I'm also
working on Hungarian, although, really tiny chunks of it.
Cheers!
