Hallo iedereen..
Q: alleen and alleen maar. From what i've read and understood, maar directly after alleen renders 'only', while alleen on it's own renders 'alone'. Is there some colloquial thing in existence where people just drop the maar, but are still meaning 'only'? 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Q: I've heard people pronounce seven as 'seuve'. Is this specific to a certain region or do people everywhere in The Netherlands (colloquially) pronounce it like this?

Particularly in the Netherlands, they pronounce seven as 'seuve' or 'zeuve'. They say for instance: 2007 = twee duizend zeuven (while in Belgium it'd be twee duizend EN zeven) Personally I have never heard someone from Belgium say 'seuve', though I believe it is quite common in the Netherlands. alleen means only in the sense of only one alleen maar means only in the sense of a limitation there is also slechts, which is a stronger version of alleen maar, the equivalent of merely or no more than or only just voorbeelden: Ik heb alleen 1 euro.
