"Ik hou van je" is fine for both.

JanKG, that certainly is confusing! I'll be sure to keep it in mind when talking to my Flemish friends. ;-)

In Flanders : "Ik zie je graag".

Anyone here has a list of Dutch prepositions? I am having a hard time remembering the meaning of many of those and I think having a list to look up to would help me, I couldn't find on the web, Anyone might help?

That is quite an amazing, impressive list. How much tiùme did that take you ??? I have voted it (very) useful, but in fact it mixes up prep. with adverbs and conjunctions. However, that does not make the list less interesting. I think I'll work on it this evening and send it afterwards.

Some examples:
P aan >>> to
Conj aangezien >>> as, since
P achter >>> behind
Adv achteraf >>> afterwards (out of the way ???)
Adv al >>> already,
Nound het heelal >>>> universe,
adj/N al, alle > all
[aldaar >>> see : XX daar >>> there, at that place,
ProN daar = dat before proposition >>> Prep. that (Shakespeare: thereon, therewith, ..)
Conj alhoewel >>> although, albeit
Adv allebei >>> both, either, each
Adv alleen >>> only, alone
Adj allerlei >>> all sorts of
Adv almaar >>> continuously
Conj als >>> as
Adj alvast >>> beforehand, meanwhile
Conj alvorens >>> before
[Adv alweer >>> again ---> more common: WEER >>> again]
[Adv alom >>> everywhere ---> more common: OVERAL]
Adj ander, andere >>> other
Adv andermaal >>> again, once again (not so common)
Adv anders >>> differently, otherwise
Adv andersom >>> vice-versa, the other way round
Adv anderzijds >>> on the other hand
Prep behalve >>> apart from, besides, except for

Not much time except that it was spread out over many months. I still add to it when I find a difficult 'little word'. I don't restrict them to any word type. But nouns, verbs and very descriptive adjectives and adverbs don't usually get added. But these more abstract words are the big challenge for me. And many of them can have very many meanings.

For me the most difficult vocabulary to decipher are phrases using "ook" "maar" "al" etc:
hoe dan ook - anyway
toe maar - nevermind
ook maar - even

These little words frustratingly idiomatic on their own. I recall from the Linguaphone course the sentence "Kunt u mij ook zeggen hoe laat het is", and that the explanation of "ook" was essentially "It helps the sentence flow better."

@Tommus: I see. What I try to do myself with or for my students, is to try to limit the list they have to learn to a third of your list by explaining how the words are built up. But it is certainly a very interesting list. But I pointed out that some words are not that common; I'd never teach them. But no problem if you want to learn them. I might work on them this evening. It was just a start. But it is useful !

@CarloNove: "Ook" --- I am quite amazed that it is called just a 'non-word', I'd say it means "also" simply. There may be some difference between Northern Dutch and Southern Dutch, but still...
