Välkomna! Velkommen! Welcome to our brand new home, lovers of all things Scandinavia, and welcome to TAC 2014! The purpose of the TAC is to achieve the best possible results in our TLs by going the extra mile in our studies. But as any long-time language learner knows, it’s really hard to stay motivated throughout an entire year and that’s where the TAC team comes in. With fellow learners encouraging us when we hit a rough patch, offering advice when we find ourselves at a loss, and prodding us on when we simply feel bored by the whole thing we can make 2014 a fantastic year for learning Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish! I count on the “board of veterans” to help maintain this team alive and bustling, suggest challenges to keep everybody engaged, organize Skype sessions for those who’d like to take part, let everyone know when you discover any interesting material either online or off and in general to make sure this thread never goes cold. We’re lucky enough to already have a godfather for Norwegian in Ogrim and a godmother, albeit only part-time, in Cristina (thank you, guys, for offering your help) but we’re still looking for godparents/guardian angels for our Swedish and Danish learners. If any native speaker reads this and is willing to volunteer, we guarantee our undying gratitude. ;-) Most of us have already survived TAC’13 with Team Viking, so we should know what being part of the TAC entails, but for the newcomers and as a refresher to the rest of us here’s what you’re expected to do during the tack: 1) study as much as you can; 2) keep a log of your language journey; 3) follow the logs of your teammates and offer comment, advice, and encouragement. Looking around in the other teams’ threads I’ve found this excellent quote by Hekje about logs, so I’ll copy it here:

Ok! Now that we’ve got our team thread, we can get down to business! There are a couple of things we need to see to.
First of all, as the list of members was compiled by noting down people who expressed an interest in studying one of the Nordic languages in the sign-up thread even before there was talk of actual team formation, we need confirmation of this interest, especially from the people who said they were planning to study Swedish/Danish/Norwegian at the very beginning of the sign-up thread. And while we are at it, I’d like everybody to link to their log for the TAC’14, so that I can add the links to the first post. You can either start a brand new log or you can use a previous one, but please, in the latter case edit your first post to tell us where the TAC’14 starts. As soon as we have chosen a team name (or by January if you’re still doing TAC’13 and prefer to finish that before making any changes) edit your log title to reflect that you’re taking part in the TAC as a member of the Scandinavian team. Make sure that if you use “TAC 2014” or some such words in the log title, they must not be at the beginning. Here's why. It would also be quite nice if in the coming weeks we could all introduce ourselves, however briefly, here on this thread. For the fearless, we can do it in our target languages, but for those who’ve just begun learning a Nordic language just starting with “Hej!” is enough: no need to worry. We have twelve months to become fluent or at least to improve, so we can start slowly. Secondly, we need a name for the team. Any suggestions? I guess we could gather a few proposals and then vote on the one we like best. I think the names Valhalla, Ikea, Pippi, Havfrue, Thor, Odin were suggested in the TAC Team names thread, but I’m sure we can come up with more and maybe even better ones. Thirdly, for the time being we shall keep the team open to further members willing to join as practically all those who intervened on the 15-member limit discussion in the Viking Thread are in favor of having a bigger group. But this decision is not set on stone: if any team member who hasn’t made his/her mind known yet wishes to express a different opinion, please do so. Your voice will be heard and if enough people prefer to reinstate some kind of limit, we’ll decide about it by majority. Finally, as you’ve probably guessed by the place holders above, I’m going to write a list of useful links. I know some for Swedish, but very few for Danish and Norwegian, so I ask for your help compiling these lists. Moreover, feel free to point out mistakes, typos etc. and suggest any improvement we can make to our team thread. So, let’s have the best TAC possible and let’s get the ball rolling by introducing ourselves! PS. What's the Danish and Norwegian for "Welcome!"?
