Jiwon, it's definitely the same when I talk to Koreans. They know more about American music and TV shows than I do myself, since South Park is the only show I follow and I only listen to American music while driving.

The music video came out this morning and has been on constant replay for me. I'll probably get back to studying tomorrow..hopefully.

The Real CZ: I guess I'll have to see if the MV is on Youtube then. Nothing on Yoobin Skyrock yet, but I'm sure that'll change when their stage performances start.
Jiwon: My Korean music tastes are actually changing a bit as I progress more into the language, but what can I say: 소녀시대 was the first Korean group I ever heard and the songs are addictive (which I guess is kind of the point of pop music). 카라 was actually the second, but I didn't really care much for them at the time since they were doing pretty much all "cute" songs then (Rock U, Pretty Girl, etc.). Fortunately, they appear to have grown out of that phase with the Revolution album and I rather like them now.
BTW, you mentioned in another thread (onesteptwostep's thread IIRC) that you didn't like K-pop, but never really said what genre you do listen to.

@The Real CZ: Hahaha.. I should introduce you to my brother. He's into all American music/TV shows... Glee, Desperate Housewives, etc.
Warp3: You sound like one of those Korean high school boys who get maniac over the Korean girl idol groups. :P
I usually listen to choral music, popera, show tunes, oldies pop and symphonic metal. :) Strange taste for a 19-year-old you might say.

Well, I found an HD version of the music video on Youtube (which even has Mediafire and Megaupload links in the description for the original 720P AVI file, which I promptly downloaded). The weird thing is...that song doesn't even really sound like K-pop; it reminds me more of a Euro-pop/dance song, instead.

It will be interesting to see what song they are leading up to with the teaser at the end.

I'm not really (especially since I'm a good bit older than high-school age :P ), I just happen to find those two groups particularly interesting (more so 카라, lately). The odd part is that I usually avoid American pop groups of that type like the plague.

Yeah, I would agree that those genre choices are fairly atypical for a teen. Would "trot" fall under the "oldies pop" genre or is that considered a different category entirely?

Haha... well GG and Kara are really popular with men in their 20s, 30s and 40s too, so you aren't the odd one out. :P
You mean Korean Trot? o_O Ewwwww... I meant English songs...

Yeah, true. On one of the 소녀시대 "Gee" stage performances I watched, it was downright creepy how excited some of the *much* older guys (they had to be in at least their 40s) in the audience were. o_O

Well, you didn't specify a language, so I had to assume one. Do you not listen to Korean music at all?

Haha, Jiwon, we're the same age, yet are music tastes are like day and night. I grew up listening to classic rock (50s-80s,) but then found out Jpop and Kpop. >.>
About girl groups, I didn't get into them until early 2009 until the Gee craze was almost over. I read about how Gee was breaking records left and right, and got caught up in it as well. I got into Korean music through BoA and Epik High.
About the American shows, Glee is the only show lately that I've heard anything good about. I watch The Office time to time, because "that's what she said" will never get old.
About SNSD, Kara, and other girl groups, even if I was 70, I'd still be into them without any shame.
