Korean and Japanese are only hard at the beginning, but make complete sense once you learn the basics. It doesn't seem that way for Romance languages lol. |

I also don't like idols. I don't even get all the fuss about it. Watching some Anime about them some time ago made me want to poke my eyeballs out. There are some J-Pop songs I do like, but for the most part, I'm more into Rock or Metal ... 陰陽座 comes to mind, even tho the lyrics of this particular band are not helpful at all. But what gives, they're cool and I like the style.

Well, I gave up on the 6WC a week into it. French was a nice distraction, but I got back into Korean and have been reading a lot. I've finished two books and almost done with a third book since the last time I posted here. I've also been reading some webcomics too. I've also been watching a lot of dramas lately. I seriously have nothing to do while waiting to join the military, so I've just been watching Korean dramas and playing video games.

I may try a 6WC next year, but I didn't want anything to distract me from my TAC goals this year so I've mostly ignored the other challenge threads. On that note, I doubt I'll do the TAC again next year. This isn't because I don't think it was useful, though. Honestly it has been extremely useful at ramping my vocabulary to a point I wouldn't have likely reached this quickly otherwise. However, I think it is simply too long which makes it difficult to stay motivated through the entire run. Next time I'd like to try something with a shorter time line.

My problem with the 6WC was that I was too busy seeing where I ranked instead of enjoying studying the language, so I stopped.
I obviously won't be able to do the TAC next year lol.

Happened to me as well at the last 6WC... And then I forgot a lot of what I had studied pretty quickly. I guess it would be the ideal thing before a test - good motivation for lots and lots of cramming.
Do you have plans to do anything with your Korean skills in the army? Or if not, do you plan to continue studying when possible or do you think you'll be taking a break from language learning?

It depends. If I'm fluent enough (I'd have to take a test), it'd be fun to use Korean in the military. I don't think I could go through with learning a language through the DLI. If my Korean isn't good enough, I'd probably do something else that isn't language related.

I'm alive. I just needed a break from HTLAL because the 6WC made me hate learning languages lol. I'm competitive in school, but that same competitiveness doesn't carry over into language learning.
I've finished a couple of books since I last posted here and started another. Resumed reading web comics too. I've also resumed translating for my tumblr.

I made a new lang-8 account. I plan on writing about everyday things instead of just Korean entertainment like I did with my old one. I think that will help expand my writing production much faster if I talk about a variety of subjects. Plus, my old account was a desolate wasteland anyway.
