If I may be allowed to indulge in a bit of censorship myself, could we, please, refrain from two things in this thread (a) personal attacks, and (b) subjects not related to language learning? There is still more to learn about the "listening-reading" method, but it is getting quickly drowned out by spam.
Those two no-no's are against the forum rules, by the way, for which the Swiss, and not the Americans are to blame.

I've noticed a difficulty in shadowing the Verne novel compared to my study with the Dickens novel. I think this might be a sign of my not having internalized enough of the pronunciation. It may also be due to the different reader speeds.
The man who reads Cuento de Navidad does so at an even, moderate pace. In comparison, the various readers of Le tour du monde en quatre-vingt jours read at varying speeds, and most of them seem a little too fast for my preference.
I will likely begin L1-L2 sweeping through a different novel in French, while continuing with my current approach in Spanish. In addition, when I finish my current L2-L2-L2 sweep in Spanish, I will go back and pull an L1-L2, then L2-L2, in order to hear the book read twice more without shadowing it, and to pick up the stray fragments of vocabulary I still don't recognize when reading in Spanish. After this, I'll return to L2-L2-L2.

No worries. I'm trying to make a shorthand for all of this. L2 = the target language, L1 = the teaching language. For example, for Spanish,
L1-L2 = reading the English while listening to the Spanish. L2-L2 = reading the Spanish while listening to the Spanish.
L2-L2-L2 = reading, listening to, and shadowing the Spanish aloud.
My general method has been to alternate between L1-L2 and L2-L2 until reading in the L2 was as easy as reading in the L1, and I could understand the aural L2 easily as well. After this, I switch to L2-L2-L2, as described above.
