I'm curious if anki has a way to auto play cards (preferably a deck with audio) so that you can say listen to
vocabulary while doing something like chores, driving, or working out at the gym. Any anki users know?

I'm trying out anki again. Some of the decks people make on there are simply awesome. They seem really
impressive at least. I'm a bit drained tonight though so not getting a lot of work done. I'm probably just going
to watch some anime and call it a night. The goal is to get more sleep so I'll study better tomorrow.

I read that the new final fantasy online game came out. I think there'll be a PC version and ps3 version. I'd
rather play the PC one if I play. But I don't know if my aging computer can handle a new game. I'm perfectly
content with the graphics from games 4 years ago or whatever it was when I bought this computer and it was
kick butt. I guess I could do ps3 but I'm guessing if it's on the computer looking up words via cut and paste or
whatever will be tons easier. I've been really hooked on games in the past but it's been a while since I cared.
I wonder if I would get back into it. I did play Everquest in German and I think chatting online helped me a lot.
It makes sense that it offers benefits you don't get from voice chat. You can much better analyze stuff and
people don't have to grade their language as much. And it's way easier to participate I a conversation
between other natives. Of course, kanji is a bummer.

My old trainer at my job whom I hadn't seen in like 5 years got assigned to my team. He's really into anime
and so it's fun catching up. My knowledge of anime older than 2 years is really limited to a few or the huge
ones like kenshin. So he gave me a (huge) list. Anyway, he asked me if studying Japanese were easy. I think
he wanted me to say yes. I told him it felt like hitting my head against a brick-wall. But I'm thinking it could
help if I tell myself it's easy constantly. Telling myself it's akin to breaking down a wall with your face might not
be helping me psychologically. Maybe that won't help much but I'm gonna try it.

I'm not sure how an autoplay feature would really work with an SRS system, since the execution of the algorithm is based on you selecting whether you remembered the card or not.

But if you just wanted to listen to the audio without any of the SRS element involved, you could probably make a playlist with the files in the media folder for the deck?

And yes, I agree, Japanese *is* a bit like breaking down a wall with your face. Only insane masochists would do it.

Yeah it's a pretty nice feature in flashcards deluxe. It has a browse option to just cycle through the cards in a
deck. You can filter cards according to your SRS stats (at least some like streak).

I was telling myself Japanese is easy while watching anime and it helped me focus a little bit heh. Probably
won't do much for SRS reviews.

I got caught up on space brothers. I'm pretty sure I'm about to get hooked on Akagi. It looks really fun.

The core 2k/6k modified deck on anki with audio and pics and what not is actually a pleasure to use. I like the
style it tests you with - fill in the blank in a sentence and they have pics to go with the vocab. It's great. My
regular decks are boring me to death and I might copy this testing method. My sentences wouldn't have
English translations. I could just plow through the anki deck and not make my own. Still thinking.

I haven't done much for RTK like I've wanted. He past week or so I've done light SRS and mostly just
watched anime. Mostly space brothers. I have a short vacation coming up where I'll go visit my sister and I'll
have some time to relax and study I'm sure.

I am making some progress on the 2k/6k modified deck. I think a lot of people go through and take out the
cards they know or something but I'm just blowing through all of them and selecting the max interval. I got
through 400 tonight. Which impressed myself because I'm so tired and didn't intend to get very far. He
example sentences are helping to give more manning to some of the words and a few I genuinely can use
the review but obviously the majority.. Are really easy. I think at about 2k it should get more interesting
although I think it will still be review at least it won't be stuff I mastered a while ago.

I did RTK again. I've got line 80 active cards. I did it right before bed and it's fun. I wonder why I never seem
to stick to RTK. When I was a kanji noob it was such a god send. I think I need the review and it's fun so I
hope I keep it up.

I'm in Portland visiting my sister for the weekend and I got he urge to read a parallel text story like the
penguin series. In Boston I'm sure it would be no problem to get one but regular Barnes and noble doesn't
stock them. Not for Spanish even. I was a little surprised that they had gotten rid of the Rosetta Stone
language boxes and replaced them with living language and pimsleur boxes. Both offer online tutoring to
complement their self study program. They look pretty good although I'm not in the market for beginner level
stuff anymore. Maybe for my next language if I'm masochistic enough to go for it.

I ended up buying a Japanese history book. HIROHITO And the Making of Modern Japan. I'm still really
ignorant of Japanese history and to a least extent culture. So I'll give this book a go. If I really want to learn it
I'll probably have to (sigh) make some SRS cards to go with it. I don't know if I really care though.

RTK review is going slowly but still going. I still remember a lot of it but there's some cars I've forgotten and
they're fighting me a little to get into my head. So this is a good idea.
