Part of multiple choice is to increase the odds by eliminating the things you know are
incorrect and then making the best guess possible. If I sat N5 again this Sunday I'm sure
there would be parts I'd be guessing on.
Be positive: you'll do well!

Just watching Bennie do a Skype and his japanese is getting better. He might have caught up to me. I think
he tries harder than I do when he talks. I tend to take the easy way out when I'm talking to the point where
I'm making mistakes on purpose so long as I know I'm being understood. I need to kick that habit it I won't
get much better. Bennie used a structure I personally only use when I'm specifically being asked to do it...

I arrived in my hostel in San Francisco. The city is really awesome. I
seems huge compared to Tucson. I don't leave too much so it's kind
of surprising when I do. Downtown seems safe enough. The other
people at the hostel seem to like their drugs. Or talking about them
anyway. I met one guy at the desk from Germany but haven't talked
to anyone else. I think it's the cheapest place to stay in town. One
more day and then the test.

I just randomly took out the info on the test and started reading. I totally forgot they don't let you use
regular mechanical pencils on the test. Actually I seem to remember people using them last time but it's in
the rules. Which led to a desperate search for a store that was open and sold old school pencils. And
sharpeners. So many stores close early in San Francisco. It was just 8 pm and where I live theres 24 hour
cvs's and Walmart etc. Not here. I managed to get to a Walgreens that's open for 20 minutes longer and
got my stuff. The other Walgreens and CVS I passed were closed until Monday. Crazy.

Just waiting now till I'm tired enough to fall asleep. The night I got here we all played drinking games and I
drank the six pack of non lite beer I bought and spent all day hung over. Not what I had in mind... Was
thinking to do some last minute cramming but that didn't happen. I did get in a really good job though and
that generally really helps me focus the next day also. Still waiting for my head to clear. It might also be
that Inever got my two cups of coffee for the day. Caffeine addicts like me get headaches I think when they
go without. I don't really know how true that is since I rarely go without. So I have my pencils and I'll set my
alarm for 9 am.. I hope I'm lucky n the material they test.
If things don't go well I will take Gbod's advice and retake the N3 again. But I'll be doing the N2 level
classes at the JOI. As far as grammar goes at least I know I am ready to move on. The problem is
vocabulary. I spent the learning a lot of vocab from anime or Manga that isn't tested yet on N3. But it was
what I wanted to study.

Day of the exam. I'm at starbucks nursing my headache that never
really went away yesterday. I'm slightly nervous on getting to the
exam but Google has been pretty good to me so far. I'm currently
trying to make myself eat as much as I can. I only had one full meal
yesterday which kind of scares me. Just didn't have the appetite. I
think traveling is a good way to lose weight? Seems to be for me.
