Something that I find helpful is adding Japanese subtitles. This gives you the
opportunity to see the kanji of the words and might help you make a rough estimate of
the words' meanings.
They probably scale it to keep their credibillity if they happen to make an exam paper
too easy, or something...

I think you picked totally the wrong show for that! I couldn't follow something like that without subs right now either, there's far too much obscure vocabulary going on! I could suggest an amendment to your challenge. For any new show you watch, always watch the first episode raw first. If you understand enough, continue watching the raws, otherwise switch to subbed. It's what I've done for a while - although I'm now at a point where I don't want to waste my time on subbed shows I can't understand because I get so much more out of watching comprehensible raws now. But there was a definite transition to reach that point.

Ok, I'm in LA. I chose a bad hotel but it's walking distance to the test. Franklythe llocation if the hotel is a
little scary. Oh well. I'm at a cafe by the university where they have the test. I haven't had cafe Americano
in a while. Some Google review said theirs was watered down and mine tasted like hot water. Oh well.
So I'm doing a bit if practice I guess for the test or just to be busy. I'm doing flashcards on my app for
vocab and writing kanji. I know kanji writing isn't on the test but I'm in the mood for it. The weather is rainy
and about 70 or so. I guess this weather is as bad as it gets in LA. Good day to study but not to site see.

頑張ってくださいね。
I'm settled into my hotel in London now. Read some of an N2 reading book on the train and started wondering whether I should have studied more. Well, too late for that now!
Sorry you had bad luck with the hotel and the weather. I'm sure you'll have better luck with the paper tomorrow though!

Good luck on the test! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you pass and that you don't get robbed.
It sounds like they are crazy strict. You'd think having a clear plastic bottle of water on your desk would be OK. How can you cheat with that? They're almost as bad as airport security.

Yeah I sent an email asking about printed material. They said it was discouraged but if travel
arrangements were really strict they'd let you have it in a bag under your desk. I'm enjoying myself in a
cafe at Venice Beach at the moment though. I'm in a bad neighborhood but I can leave it heh.
I'm hoping I pass too. You never know what may happen on test day and unlike a course for a class you
don't have such a good idea what will be on the test.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Ok.. I couldn't make myself buy a crappy watch at the store for the test. I just hated the watches so much
and didn't want to wear one and the ones that are less tacky cost more and well I can't justify it. Maybe I'll
have a change of heart tomorrow. Or maybe ill just so this thing with no idea how much time now on the
clock. I should have scoured my apartment for an old watch I forgot I had but I didn't.
