I have added all newbies I have seen to the LIST OF PARTICIPANTS

Welcome!

Could you all see if everything is correct? I may have overlooked someone, and some of you have changed languages, and I do not think I have cought that (and I am a tad hesitant to go through 50 pages to see :-) Could those of you who have changed languages or registred recently have a look?
I changed both French and Japanese to the full super duper. :)

Updates:

Japanese Books

1. HunterxHunter treasures vol.1 manga 788 pages=157 pages
2. HunterxHunter treasures vol.2 manga 520 pages=104 pages

I'm still stalling here, between focusing on French and having reached a point in the story that I don't like very much I've barely read anything in the past couple weeks.

Japanese Movies

1. となりのトトロ
2.魔法の宅急便

I've never seen this one before but I loved it. I've always liked stories that involve witches, especially if they have a black cat, and this one was very well done. Err, I don't do reviews well so I'll leave it at that.

French Books

1. Easy French Reader 100 pages
2. Harry Potter à L'école des Sorciers 305 pages

I finally managed to finish this one a few days ago. Luckily I know the story well enough to figure out what is going on, and I felt like I learned quite a bit, but it was still quite difficult. I think I'll work on some of my parallel texts before starting the second one.

French Movies

1. Le Roi Lion
2. Mon Voisin Totoro
3. Les Chroniques de Narnia : L'Armoire magique

Wikipedia informs me that this was only the title in Quebec, but since that was what was written in the movie I'll keep it. I was able to follow the story pretty well even though I've only seen it once before. I'll be watching the rest of the series, which I haven't even seen in English yet, next, so that should be a challenge.

WOW. You're nuts!

Haha. I am so glad I am not alone. :D

Good luck on all SIX of your challenges. I think this brings a whole new meaning to Total Annihilation!

"Starbuck" (2011)
"Les doigts croches" (2009)

"La grande séduction" (2003)
"Le bonheur de Pierre" (2009)

"30 Vies", Season 1-2 (120 episodes of 22 min)
"Toute la vérité", Seasons 1-3 (50 episodes of 45 min)

****

Starbuck (2011)
This comedy staring Patrick Huard (of Bon Cop Bad Cop) is about a perpetual adolescent who discovers that, as a sperm
donor and due to a error, he has fathered 533 children of which 142 have launched a lawsuit to try to force the fertility clinic
to reveal the true identity of "Starbuck", the pseudonym he used.   His pregnant girlfriend does not feel that he is mature
enough to be a father. He comes into possession of a list of his 142 claimants, helpfully annotated with addresses and
photos. When curiosity gets the better of him, he starts a series of clandestine visits to see how his progeny are faring and
trying to help them without revealing who he is. Rights to the film have been sold to Steven Spielberg for an English
language remake staring Vince Vaughn.

Les doigts croches (2009)
This comedy is about a group of five bumbling thieves from Montreal who are forced to walk the famous Camino de
Santiago
pilgrimage in Spain to prove they've changed their ways and deserve their cut of the loot stolen in a heist 4
years earlier.   Both this movie and Starbuck (and La grande séduction) were written by Ken Scott of Québec. The
phrase "doigts croches" meaning having a tendency to steal, croche being an Québécisme adjective for crooked.

This sounds so fun, I would love to join this! I need the motivation for my Korean
right now!

LANGUAGE: Korean

CHALLENGE: Full (100 books, 100 movies)

CURRENT LEVEL: A2 (?)

COMMENTS: I need a little competition to keep me motivated. I live in Korea and am
looking to have a job using Korean in the near future. I hope to get up to Basic
Fluency with Korean once this is done, and be able to read young adult novels without
too much dictionary use. I'm going to start with manhwa first (especially the few
titles I've already read in Japanese) and work my way up.

Also:

LANGUAGE: French

CHALLENGE: Half (50 books, 50 films)

CURRENT LEVEL: Beginner

Let the fun begin.

Update 4

Spanish Super Challenge, upgraded to Super Duper with writing

It has been such a long time since my last update. The excuse is that I've moved to my summer cottage and I
don't have my computer here. I hate writing with a tablet.

The big news is that after one month of reading like a crazy I begun to feel an urge to write too, so I
upgraded my Spanish Super Challenge to a Super Duper w. writing. My humble plan was to write something
every day but as was to be expected my laziness has won every other day.

#read 35.7/100
#film 29.4/100
#write 13.8/100

Here is my detailed log

Marikki's detailed log page

So, being in the countryside and and having a vacation (and a couple of rainy days) has been very beneficial
what comes to reading. Maybe even too much so, because now I have decided to give the reading treatment
to all my languages. I've already made a Twitter registration to the Half Super Challenge in German, the
Advanced Challenge in Swedish and the Advanced Mega Challenge w. writing in English.

Spanish will still be my priority language until September which means that I won't begin extensive reading in
other languages before September.
