LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: Half challenge (100 films and, informally, as many
books and audiobooks as I can squeeze in.)
CURRENT LEVEL: Somewhere in the A's
COMMENTS: I almost feel bad signing on for just the movies and
still calling it a "challenge" since I'd probably be watching the movies
anyways. But now I'll have more drive to ignore the subtitles as
much as I can, while also trying to get through as much written
French as possible. I fully intend to make my social life a complete
thing of the past once this challenge gets started :P

Language: Japanese
Challenge: Super-Duper (Full + Conversation & Speaking)
Level: A1-A2 (active less than A1, passive between A1 and A2)
Comments:The language that's my most personal and closest, I want to have
acquired a high level of fluency, in terms of both speaking and writing, by the end of
20 months and 100 each for books, movies/shows, speaking/self-talk/shadowing, and Lang-
8 writing, although this last part is an unofficial part of the challenge.
Site: My log currently, and I might either jump on the band-wagon and set up a
blog, or use the justpasteit.com tool Sprachprofi proposed, which I think is pretty
neat. I'll update this post when I have decided which way to go.

CHALLENGE: Full Super Challenge (100 films and 100 books)
CURRENT LEVEL: A1(?)
COMMENTS: I will be watching movies with TL subtitles. I will be starting with the french versions of the books and movies that I am already familiar with. Later, after I begin feeling comfortable with the language, I will switch to more unfamiliar material.

LANGUAGES: German, French, Japanese, Korean
CHALLENGE: All Half Challenges
100 German Movies
100 French Movies
100 Japanese Movies
100 Korean Movies
CURRENT LEVEL: German: A1-A2, reading ability around B1
French, Japanese, Korean: A1, if that.
COMMENTS: I was going to do this with just German, but figured 100 German films by the end of 2013 isn't much of a challenge. 400 films, on the other hand, will take a bit of doing. That works out to be 20 films per month.
I also joined the crowd and started a blog: http://www.barking-squirrel.com/languageblog/

CHALLENGE: FULL for both.
CURRENT LEVEL: A1, beginner in Traditional Mandarin
COMMENTS: I was originally only going to do Spanish, but I might as well do it for Mandarin.

LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: Half (50 films \ 50 books \ 50 conversations)
CURRENT LEVEL: A2\B1. My passive understanding is around a low B1, but I'm only A2 when it comes to speaking or writing.
COMMENTS: Looking forward to this challenge, which I'll start late in May, after I return from Italy. My parallel challenge is to complete 1,000 hours of French study before the end of next year. In addition to this, I'll also study as much Russian and Spanish as possible. I was tempted by the full challenge, but I think 50 books will be a struggle in itself.

CHALLENGE; THE SUPER CHALLENGE (FULL)
CURRENT LEVEL: 0
Comments: While my French B1+ skills would benefit greatly from this challenge, it would be a little dull, because French is getting easier, and I'm afraid I would quit before the end of 20 months. So the adventurous part of me decided to choose a language that I know nothing about. Obviously I can't read, so I'll be using children's books for the first 9 months or so and I'll have to look everything up. A few of my books have less than 50 pages so I'll be reading them 3-4 times each.
Edit: my goal is simply to complete the challenge and see where it takes me.

CHALLENGE: 100 books + 100 films + 100 lang-8 entries
CURRENT LEVEL: Possibly a shaky B1 on reading or maybe A2 plus dictionary, probably A1-A2 on the others.
COMMENTS: I have no opportunities for conversation at the moment. If that changes, I will add conversation, but I don't think that is likely to happen. I've decided to tweak the challenge a little and make my own version by adding 100 lang-8 entries. I don't know what this version should be called, but it will at least mean working on three out of four skill areas.
My blog
I can't put a link to my lang-8 account right now, because the site is under maintenance.
