UPDATE
BOOKS
I finally finished the Harry Potter series. Yay!
I also read妖怪のアパートの幽雅な日常, the first book in the Haunted Apartment series. It is a series aimed at 11-12-year-olds and is about a boy who is just starting high school. Right before school begins, the dormitory burns down and he has to find an apartment. The only one he can afford is in a building where most of the residents are ghosts. But it turns out not to be so bad. It’s an interesting book – not much plot, but interesting characters.
As usual, see my blog (link under my name) or my TAC log for more in depth reviews.

I've been wondering what to do next after the 6WC and after reading all the challenge
alternatives, I just couldn't resist
LANGUAGE: Croatian
CHALLENGE: Major Challenge (50 books, 50 films, 50 conversations, 50 pieces of writing)
CURRENT LEVEL: (High?) A1
COMMENTS: Originally wasn't planning on doing the writing, but 50 is doable while still
being very challenging.
------
LANGUAGE: Arabic (Egyptian)
CHALLENGE: Half Super Challenge (100 films only)
CURRENT LEVEL: A2
COMMENTS: Reading and writing are not really an option now as I've been concentrating
on the spoken language and I'm just starting to learn how to write. Hoping to add the
100 conversations alternative as I can easily watch more than 100 films in one year.

Sorry if this question was previously asked....I monitored the posts in the beginning and then when we started, I went my own way watching movies, etc. My Chinese character recognition is now at the level where I can skim but not read word for word, for easier books. I don't necessarily look up every unknown character. How does that count toward reading books? BTW, I'm currently reading "The Hobbit". It's slow going though I'm moving forward and am pretty motivated!
BTW, stopped counting movies when I reached that goal which was 50 movies.

UPDATE - Added Italian audio entries 1-4 and French audio entries 20.5-21.5
Here we go, Italian! I'm about a third of the way through HP1, over a week into Assimil, and I'm off and running
with my AJATTish listening. An easy source to start with was the SBS broadcasts out of Australia. It seems
counterintuitive, but the delivery is a bit slower than Italian sources, and I can compare to coverage in other
languages of the same news stories. Saw this Italian movie from the 50s, Story of a Love Affair, and enjoyed it.
After being left a bit flat and confused by some French cinema, I was glad to hit a good Italian flick first time out.
With the help of English subtitles, I also recognized a surprising amount of what was said, considering where I am
with Italian right now.
I also just got RAI Italia and TV5MONDE hooked up on cable, so there's plenty more input to be had at any time
now. I'm especially looking forward to the football matches and cooking shows.
I'm about one week away from finally finishing the passive wave of Assimil New French With Ease, and not quite
half way through Le Trône de Fer 1 (and a third of the way through Das Lied von Eis und Feuer 05).
BOOKS (Italian): 0. ...
FILMS, ETC. (Italian): 1-3. SBS Radio Italian x 6 (1 hour program), 4. Story of a Love Affair
BOOKS (French): 10. ...
FILMS, ETC. (French): 20.5-21.5. Game of Thrones episodes 1-4
BOOKS (Dutch): 28. ...
FILMS, ETC. (Dutch): 24. ...
I am not entered in any Super Challenge for German, but I also am still reporting for my log:
BOOKS (German): 12. ...
FILMS, ETC. (German): 34. ...
