Evening

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD2-15 to CD3-10 (~1.25 hours)
- I ended up doing this while it was still raining. It's amazing the looks you get when standing under shelter, and shouting out the answers to Michel Thomas.

Spanish

Spanish

Gramatica A1-A2 Elemental (Anaya\ELE) (Completed 30, Started 31) (~1.5 hours)
- Started and completed all of Lesson 30. The exercises are getting longer, with a lot more construction from scratch. All the units in the book are divided into two types of exercise, construction, "como construye", and usage, "como usa". The contruction exercises are relatively easy, but the usage exercises can really tax the brain, and are where I make most of my mistakes.

Long Weekend Summary 01/08/08 - 04/08/08

- This covers everything from Friday evening till Bank Holiday Monday (Irish Bank Holiday).
- I didn't get to do any study at Friday lunch.

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD3-01 to CD3-12 (~2.5 hours)
- Doing my usual trick of skipping ahead just one track, I covered these on Friday and Sunday.

Spanish

Gramatica A1-A2 Elemental (Anaya\ELE) (Completed all 33 lessons ) (~3 hours)
- Did these units over the entire weekend, and a summary exercise at the end of the book. It tripped up on two exercises at the end, mixing up Qué and Cuál in a very subtle test, and forgetting the ending for vos in the positive imperative.

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Completed Unit 1, Started 2) (~1.25 hours)
- The second book in the series, has stepped up the pace immediately, and there's a lot more packed into each unit. The book is almost twice the size of the A1-A2 book, and should keep me busy for a while.
- I don't like using the dictionary with this book, even though it's all Spanish. I got stumped on the Spanish word, "sobrevivir" meaning "to survive", even though I knew sobre (above) and vivir (to live). I felt a bit stupid that I couldn't deduce it, as the word survive contains the French sur, meaning above, and vive, meaning live.

Assimil Spanish with Ease - (Reread Lessons 38-44, Completed 45, Started 46) (~45 minutes)
- Just about started 46.

Listened to Assimil Spanish with Ease (Units 19-50) (~2.5 hours)
- Like the alternating Russian, I did these lessons in two separate sessions of an hour and a quarter each.

Morning

Hungarian

Read Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10,11) (~20 minutes)
- Perhaps I should've covered 13 again, as it's brand new.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10-13) (~15 minutes)

Lunch (~45 minutes)

French

Listened to Assimil New French with Ease (Units 4-29)
- I keep meaning to move on lessons, but my other target languages are winning out, even though I'm heading to France at months end.

Evening

- A very full evening that covered three of my target languages.

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD3-02 to CD3-12 (1.25 hours)
- It's slow just skipping ahead a single track, but if I overlearn the contents over a longer period, this should help.

Spanish
Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Unit 2) (~1.25 hours)
- I got a good bit further into this unit. It's very long, and crammed full of information. Some of the exercises are very subtle in how they test.

French

Assimil New French with Ease (Reread units 22-28, Completed 29, Started 30) (~2 hours)
- Finally covered some French in the evening slot. This should allow me to continue with all Hungarian in the morning.

Morning

Hungarian

Read Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 12,13) (~20 minutes)
- Still a bit more to learn on Unit 13. I feel like each new unit is taking about an hour in total to learn properly.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10-13) (~15 minutes)
- To keep the pace up, I should move on a track shortly. However, I don't feel I know these tracks as thoroughly.

Evening

-Not a very productive evening, with the weather been mainly responsible.

Spanish

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Unit 2) (~1 hour)
- This unit is very long, and the exercises much harder than the first book. I'm finding I've to resort to the dictionary a lot more, as understanding the exact meaning of words is key. E.g. Picking between tacaño and egoista to describe a mean person who doesn't lend money.
