Morning

Hungarian

Read Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10,13) (~20 minutes)
- Did the very first and last in this cycle.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10-13) (~15 minutes)
- For some odd reason, perhaps tiredness, I wasn't picking up as much this morning. It seemed whole words skipped by, before I realised they were said.

Lunch (~45 minutes)

French

Listened to Assimil New French with Ease (Units 5-30)
- Similar to the morning session, I seem to miss bits and pieces. The weather is quite warm and very close here, and that might be impacting some of my ability. However, it might help me to adjust to warmer climes, when I've actually got to use the language.

Evening

Spanish

Assimil Spanish with Ease - (Reread Lessons 45, Completed 46, 47, Started 48) (~1.25 hours)
- I've now moved to the point where the second wave begins. I might delay slightly moving on, and revise as much of the first 50 lessons as possible. However, there's a chance I could get bored, so I'll see.
- I used to listen to the lessons when I did them, but now I don't. I listen to them separately, and normally I'm listening well ahead of where I actually am. Listening ahead provides a basic aural test, and when I come to cover the lessons, I know how the Spanish sounds, and then I can really concentrate on the meanings and the grammar.

Listened to Assimil Spanish with Ease - (42-46) (~15 minutes)
- As it was raining heavily, I knew I wouldn't get to do a long listening session.

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Completed Unit 2, Started 3) (~1.25 hours)
- Finally completed this long unit. It seems Unit 3 is also very long, but it's interesting. It's covering the well known "Ser" vs "Estar" usage, but in a very different way, from what I'd seen before. E.g. It has two column comparing usage, with some constructions I wasn't aware of,

ser + profesión | estar de + profesión
ser + fecha | estaramos a + fecha

and so on.

Weekend Summary 08/08/08 - 10/08/08

Spanish

Assimil Spanish with Ease - (Active Wave 1-4, Completed 48, Started 49) (~1.5 hours)

- I started into lesson 49, which means I've now onto the active wave, and translating from English to Spanish. I'm not sure if you're meant to do one active unit, and one new unit, but I'll try and complete more active units.
- The active phase wasn't too difficult to far, though I have't covered the first seven lessons in as much detail as the rest. This was due to the fact that they're painfully slow to listen to.

Listened to Assimil Spanish with Ease - (1-31) (~1.25 hours)
- I listened to the the Assimil course from the start. This was to help with the active phase on the course, and fingers crossed, it works.

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Completed Unit 3, Started 4) (~1.5 hours)
- Managed to complete all of unit 3, and enjoyed the unit. I haven't started any exercises on Unidad 4, and there are a lot. I've found some of the explanations a little tricky, so this unit could take a while to get through.

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD3-03 to CD4-1 (~2.5 hours)
- Covered these lessons on the Friday and Sunday. At the rate of a single track, every couple of days, this course should last at least two months longer.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 10-13) (~15 minutes)

Lunch (~45 minutes)

French

Listened to Assimil New French with Ease (Units 5-31)
- Just got to the very start of 31, and thanks to some Spanish cognates, I can already recognize some words (I think). Fingers crossed they weren't faux amis.

Evening

- A very long evening session of French and Spanish, and it went late enough into the night. The downside of all this was that I couldn't get to sleep for ages, and I'm exhausted today.

Spanish

Assimil Spanish with Ease - (Active Wave 5-7, Completed 49, Started 50) (~1.5 hours)
- Unit 7, like every 7th unit, had some specific translation exercises for the second wave. These are sentences made up of the vocabulary and structures from the previous six lessons.

Listened to Assimil Spanish with Ease - (21-54) (~1.5 hours)
- A longer listening session than normal, and covering a number of new lessons I haven't covered yet. I shadowed the first couple out loud, and got the usual stares from passers by.

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Unit 4) (~30 minutes)
- Just did a couple more exercises from this unit.

French

Assimil New French with Ease (Reread units 28,29, Completed 30, Started 31, Units 6-31:sentences 1,2) (~2.5 hours)
- I completed lesson 31, and then decided to revise the first sentence of Units 6 to 31. This broke up the normal pattern I've become accustomed to, and my mind took in some of the footnotes better. I then did the same for the second sentence of these units, reading the footnotes as appropriate.
