Evening

- Didn't get to do anywhere near as much Russian as hoped, but still managed to cram in a good deal of Spanish.

Spanish

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Unit 10) (~2 hours)
- Started into Unit 10 which is a long unit covering adverbs. This meant rereading the previous Unit 4. This is a long unit with a number of pages on the adverbs before the exercises begin. Though I've a reasonable sized dictionary, it's missing a lot of vocabulary that covers the various adverbial modes. There is a lot of exercises in this unit, so it may take to time to complete. I still love learning Spanish grammar entirely through Spanish. If I'm feeling brave, I might try asking some grammar questions in the multi-lingual language.

Barrons Spanish Vocabulary (~1 hour)
- Just a small vocabulary book covering about 6,000 words, but it's a good selection. A number of larger vocabulary books don't have the word "mellizos" for twins, just "gemelos".

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD3-12 to CD3-13 (~15 minutes)
- Russian listening session was cut short, but not due to the weather for a change. However, it's now pouring today, so fingers crossed I can get all my usual sessions in.

Morning

Hungarian

Read Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 14,15,16) (~20 minutes)
- Just covered the start of 16.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 12-17) (~20 minutes)
- It was raining on my way in again, so it took longer, and I heard 17 twice.

Lunch / Afternoon

Russian

LIYC Russian Level 1 (Units 1 - 7) (~45 minutes)
- Just managed to cover the first couple of words on 7. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to read the accompanying PDF soon.

[Edit - Added]
Read LIYC Russian Level 1 (~15 minutes)
- Managed to get a quick fifteen minutes to browse through it. I'll move on more tracks at some point soon so I can get to the interesting stuff.

Weekend Summary 05/08/09 - 07/08/09

- Managed to get more study done this weekend than normal. My plan to increase the amount of Spanish I'm studying is working, but to the detriment of my other languages.

Russian

Michel Thomas Advanced Russian CD3-13 to CD4-11 (~ 1.5 hours)
- Did a longer listening session than normal, and almost reached the end of the course. I'll probably temporarily decrease the evening Russian sessions for Spanish.

Spanish

Gramatica B1 Intermedio (Anaya\ELE) (Completed Unit 10, Started 11) (~3 hours)
- Completed Unit 10 in a number of different sessions over the weekend. It was a long unit. Unit 11 covers a number of prepositions and their uses, and may even be longer than Unit 10. Managed to complete the first exercise with about 80% correct. I'll need to review it, as I'm not sure I understand some of the answers.

Assimil Spanish with Ease - (Active Wave 13, ReRead Units 45-53) (~1.5 hours)
- Reread very carefully a number of previous units.

Listened to Assimil Spanish with Ease - (27-59) (~1.33 hours)
- Did the same slightly extended listening session.

Teach Yourself Spanish (Completed Units 9, 10, 11, 12 Partially 13 Started 14) (~2.5 hours)
- Completed the audio compenent of the 9 to 11, the written and audio parts of 12, and just the written part of 13. The format of the book isn't really designed for separating the sessions, but if I stuck to their format, I'd probably drop it again.

Listened to Teach Yourself Spanish (Introduction to Unit 12) (~1.66 hours)
- Went on a long walk, and listened to the entire first CD, and the start of the second. There is a lot of English audio on the recording, compared to Assimil, but a greater variety of Spanish accents.

Oxford Spanish English Dictionary (~1 hour)
- As I was getting annoyed with my Collins dictionary missing entries, I bought the Oxford Spanish English Dictionary with 500,000 translations. It's brilliant. I spent an hour reading the highlighted Spanish words, and intructions in Spanish on translating English expressions.

Hola Magazine (~1 hour)
- When I bought the dictionary, I also decided to buy a Spanish magazine. Unfortunately, the only Spanish magazine available was "Hola", the Spanish version of "Hello". I read the first inteview, checking unknown words, as I came across them. The Spanish version is as sycophantic and sacharine as the English version. However, it does give a feeling about the spoken language as currently used.

Morning

Hungarian

Read Assimil Hungarian with Ease (16, 17) (~20 minutes)
- Reviewed 16, then finished the exercises, and started 17.

Listened to Assimil Hungarian with Ease (Units 12-17) (~20 minutes)
- This session could keep me busy for a while. I managed to hear 17 twice as I've accidently doubles of all subsequent tracks. This might be useful.

Lunch (~45 minutes)

Russian

LIYC Russian Level 1 (Units 1 - 7)
- Each unit is quite long, and packed full of Russian. I haven't decided how do divide my French, Spanish and Russian during lunch. I might increase the Russian, as I've decreased it during the evening sessions.
