Update #6
30/100 Films
"Toute la vérité", Season 3 Vol 1 (10 episodes of 45 min each)
"30 Vies", Season 1 Episodes 1-20 (20 episodes of 22 min each)
"Toute la vérité", Season 2 (20 episodes of 45 min each)
"Toute la vérité", Season 1 (20 episodes of 45 min each)
****
I interrupted my viewing of '30 Vies' to watch the most recent 10 episodes of 'Toute la vérité' (which I found
online) before I forget the plot themes left hanging at the end of season 2. I believe there will be no more of this
series until the fall.
Neither of these series contains any subtitles which is ok because I find them too distracting and end up reading
instead of listening attentively. I estimate that I understood about 80% of all dialog this time compared to perhaps
60% the first time I watched it. Hopefully next time will be 90%. When I re-watch something in English, sometimes
I get more out of it the second time but this effect is much more dramatic in a second language and I like the fact
that I can count on enjoying it even more at some point in the future.

Some of you have pointed out that it is getting difficult to follow where people have posted their updates, and have asked for an aggregated list. In order to create that, I must ask you all to fill in your information in this new thread:
SUPER CHALLENGE - WHERE ARE MY UPDATES
An angel has come forward to offer his help in compiling a list based on that information, so that it will be easy to follow everyone.

Since my last update, I watched my first Spanish language film for the challenge, as well as a couple more documentaries. I saw a Spanish dubbed version of the classic British film set in the Sudan during the Mahdi uprising, The Four Feathers (IMDB: 7.7), starring John Clements and the legendary British theatrical actor, Sir Ralph Richardson. This may not have been the most appropriate thing to start with on Spanish, but I just felt like watching the movie again and I thought I’d try to make the most of it language-wise. The documentaries I watched in German both had to do with the First World War: Der Untergang des alten Europa (on YouTube) and Erster Weltkrieg: Der moderne Krieg (also on YouTube). Both were well made I thought and really serve to illustrate how WWI was a war of change and transition.
I also read my second complete book, which was another Narnia book in German, Der Ritt nach Narnia (The Horse and His Boy). To my surprise, I found the vocabulary in this one to be noticeably more difficult than in the other Narnia book I read. This in part (though not entirely) had to do with all the horse and riding related words in the book that I did not know. Overall, though, it still made for relatively easy and fun reading. (In regard to the new rules, I’ll leave it to the Twitter bot to keep track of my total page numbers and “official” book count.)
I’m trying especially to focus on German this month, since toward the end of the month I’ll be seeing a German-speaking relative, with whom I naturally hope to speak in German. Next month I intend to get more serious about my Italian and Spanish.
