You should read the Russian explanation or else what's the point about learning to use Russian textbooks? =D It gets much easier with time, from the experience I have with German, since the information in the source language is pretty much predictable.

The second lesson was a bit slower but still doable. I think it says somewhere that the same verb may be intransitive in Georgian but transitive in Russian, right?
Both textbooks are difficult. Reading 5 pages in German then 5 in Russian is taking me about two hours. And the grammar in EGS is starting to get more difficult, like today, when I read about the subjective version. Anyway, the sentences at Natadze's books are indeed the most useful and interesting part. I've added 3 of them straight away to Anki, but I ought to add many more. I'm skipping the exercises because it's mostly "learn by heart", "memorize", "conjugate", "decline" stuff. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Reading from Notadze's book has become quite tiresome. The print quality is not that good and it's easy to mistake п and т, н and и, е and с ; since I'm looking up loads of unfamiliar words, I have to retype them several times in order to get them translated from Russian, only to realize they're not very important words (like, beak of an eagle owl). This way, I may have an even more reduced time span for learning the Georgian word, as I focus on the Russian word instead.
I could do the exercises at EGS on the subjective version, which weren't easy either, but it all took me over 1h30 hours to do everything. It got tiresome and I think that speaking of Georgian I retained much little. I do hope it gets better in the next days, otherwise I'll have to think a way of postponing the usage of textbooks in Russian and replacing them by billingual reading. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I agree about the print quality. Anyway, I assume you have read section three? I still

I did read section three, or at least tried to. It's taking me long, as I said. Anyway, I hold on to the fact that the best practice are the Georgian sentences. I'll see how it gets next week. I thought I once had this book at an appropriate quality, maybe it's just the display's resolution that got higher during those years.

I'm gonna leave pages 25 on for tomorrow, on the dative case. I'm not in a hurry to
finish this book anyway, even though I'm missing a more advanced resource for Georgian. Maybe I should recognize this as a Russian resource and pick something else on Georgian, like another novel. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

As for EGS, I started the dreadful lesson on the 2nd conjugation. Now I feel it to be
more useful, because I've seen the important tenses on the 1st conjugation previously. It's not like in Aronson's where it's one of the first lessons. Still, since I studied from the Russian textbook first, I decided to go slowly at this one too, and read only 3 pages out of 23 (!!). So, I really need to reorganize my Georgian schedule. I'll see if tomorrow I can add a novel to be read in French/Georgian. By doing this, i'd stick to doing no more than 3 grammar pages at each of the textbooks. It would take me forever to finish them, but at least I'd be progressing at another skills as well. 1 person has voted this message useful |
