TAC UMBRELLA THREAD 2014
This list of all TAC teams with links to the team threads was compiled by Josquin and originally published Jan. 12 2014 in the Sign Up Thread for TAC 2014, which however has grown to monstrous dimensions and become totally unwieldy. I have reordered the threads so that the Indoeuropean threads are assembled at the top and after that the other language families follow.
Team Advanced ESL: English
Team Spaß: German
Team Oranje: Dutch
Team Asgard: Scandinavian languages
Team Triomphe: French
Team French 2: French
Team Forza: Italian
Team Lobo: Spanish
Team Exploradores: Iberian languages
Team Celts: Celtic languages
Team Катюша (Katyusha): Russian
Team Sokoły/Соколи: Polish and Ukrainian
Team *jäŋe/*ledús: Finno-Ugric and Balto-Slavonic languages
Team Sisu: Finnish
Team Cyrus (کوروش): Persian
Team Yürükler: Turkish[/QUOTE]
Team Coconut: Southeast Asian languages
Team 鹊 (Què): Chinese
Team Gumiho (구미호): Korean
Team 旅立ち (Tabidachi): Japanese
Team Rare Languages: Rare languages
Team START: First foreign language
Other TAC 2014 threads:
Sign Up Thread for TAC 2014
Earlier years:
TAC 2013 Organization and Sign-up
TAC 2013 - Voting and Results
TAC 2013 Highlights
TAC 2012 Official Thread
Voting and results of the TAC 2012
Team TAC 2011 (General Info)
..and the thread that started the whole TAC thing back in the the stone age (i.e. 2007):
Total Annihilation Summer Challenge
Other types of challenges:
Super Challenge/Adv, Cha. Reg, Upd, 2013
Super Challenge discussion thread 2014
A dead languages challenge?
A Learning Based Challenge?
Learning Based Challenge- Signup thread
and last, but not least: Serpent's Wikia article about the HTLAL challenges here
nb: you are welcome to inform me about changes or corrections by PM or by adding to this thread. However in the latter case I may change the information in the first three posts and then remove the post with the information in order to make this thread as short and simple as possible. Some time in the future I have also planned to add the thread titles (as some team leaders already have done) plus references to general TAC threads back to 2007 ... but not today. And I have still not found a simple and logical way to refer to logs that aren't part of an ongoing TAC challenge (like my own).
Any discussions about challenges, goals, resources etc. belong in the team threads or in the threads of individual members. This present thread is deliberately limited to team thread and member lists (and with a few exceptions everything has been based on the team threads - so my hearty thanks to the team leaders for their efforts).

I have added those informations to the list. I have also added a lot of thread names, but it took one evening to do just the Indoeuropean part.
The list below was compiled January 21 and contains seemingly unaffiliated threads in the log section which have been updated at least once here in 2014. Apart from that I have a list over somewhere around 30 threads that may represent threads with a member navn, but no link or filename in the team threads. Or in some cases I suspect that a link in a team thread should be changed into on of those on my 'doubtful cases' list. But this list isn't ready for publication. And yes, I know that the list below will grow - and it may also at some point necessary to remove threads which aren't updated anymore. But a little bit of order is better than no order at all.

I have added renaissancemedi to Team rare after a PM from team leader Luso, and yesterday I added myself to the Asgard team as guardian angel/godfather for Danish on the assumption that the team won't mind having an empty slot filled out - but in this case I hadn't received a confirmation, I just saw that the team needed a native Danish on the post. But this will be an exception.
For instance I noticed that our new/old HTLAL member FionaS. has made a TAC for Dutch and Russian. In this case the teams concerned are pretty obvious, but other cases a TAC thread may indicate a series of languages or no specific languages at all, and then the question is whether I should update the umbrella thread before the team leader has updated the list in the team thread. And in general term the answer is no - I'll normally wait for confirmation from the team. However this strategy rests on two assumptions: 1) the list in the team thread is updated by the team leader, 2) I notice that the thread is updated or I get direct information either here or by PM.
In the concrete case I have added Fiona S. to the Dutch team, but there has been no confirmation from the Russian team - so the second membership is pending. And that's how it should be: I'll just stick to changes which are confirmed in the first message of a team thread.
I have read somewhere that a team is full (I think it was the Spanish one). In the parallel case of French Songlines took the initiative to create a second French team, but it is unclear what happens if a several potential members are left out in the cold in front of a closed door or - we have to be realistic - a team leader goes on indefinite holiday. If any of these things occur I hope the members concerned will raise the alarm flag in some visible way so that the problem can be solved.

Great work!
Can you make this thread sticky? I was looking for it yesterday, but it was buried deep down in the Language Log room, on page 3 or 4 I think. Given the current activity level of log writing, it would be good to have this one on the top as a constant reference tool.

I have made this thread sticky precisely because it is supposed to be used as a lonely beacon of easy reference in a bustling chaos where everything else drowns within a few hours, but then I noticed that it lost its stickyness each time I touched the first message. Fortunately I could put some new glue on it, and right now it is sticky.
However being sticky apparently only puts the thread at the top of a section if you look at that that section in isolation - not if you have chosen "Active topics". And that is apparently a feature of the forum software which I can't change.
