No internet for the past days, so have gotten some Hebrew done but not much else of note.
But that's okay. We'll fix it. I have some French homework to do later today.

But the good news is that in little less than an hour I will do some German and we will
see how that goes. Not studied German for an age...

The very good news about my German is: it is totally functional and the teacher made me
do some sample B2.2 questions which didn't really force me to struggle that much. She
thinks I can handle C1 material in German (probably correct if only on the basis of the
fact that German is easy to understand but hard to speak right). I still hate writing
German, but that is the last hurdle to its usability - speaking could be a bit better
but more in accuracy (and not swallowing final syllables - the Dutch way of hiding that
you don't know the case).

My Romanian lesson was spent integrally correcting every single mistake, putting the
accent on subtle differences (and the difference between datives and pronominal verbs,
which can be an idiomatic difference in Romanian...)

French also went well, but I am pretty happy with my French anyways.

I've FINALLY managed to get round to some Korean again - I'm just using work to listen
to podcasts (I work outside as a postman, so if I know the area and there are no shops
then I can just put in earphones and screw everyone else). I only have the ability to
listen, though, so I just listen to some TTMIK podcasts and I'm happy.

In other news, I'm really feeling improvement in my Hebrew, it's just become easier to
speak and understand. I need to keep up that momentum because it would be terrible to
lose it. But I am doing well in it now. Reading is still slow, but also a bit better.
And the first book is always the hardest, but by the end you always speak better and
that's good to know. Once I complete HP2, Hebrew will be the ninth language in which
I've completed a full book. I am still inconfident reading something that I don't have
a translation for, though - that's kind of my reason for not putting it at speaks. But
it's definitely gone into B1 now.

I had a very terrible Romanian class (or actually strange - I know nădejde, but I
forgot fotoliu... annoying, that sort of mistake. Although it does not hamper my
ability to express myself.

However, after I finish the iTalki challenge I really need to rethink my old languages
strategy - I could probably drop French again for a while and improve my German. Hebrew
stays. Romanian... I do not know what my plans are for it now, but it is going well for
sure. It would be a shame not to work on that momentum.

Improvement is being made all around. I am still slowly but surely working through HP2
in Hebrew and checking against the English translation when I am unsure what something
means (in context). This is an exercise in extensive reading so I don't look up words -
I only look it up if the total paragraph confuses me.

As for my Romanian plans...

I am going to volunteer as an English teacher in Romania for six weeks in April!
Romania will happen this year after all, and that makes me very happy! I will stay in
Brasov given that all the preparations go according to plan (and they will) so it will
be super fine!

I've also managed to do some Korean podcasting again, and I have completed until TTMIK
5x19.

That's crazy! Congratulations. Write about it here, eh? :-)

I don't know, it doesn't take a lot except for 10 minutes of your time and a boatload
of money at your disposal to sign up :) But it's going to be more than worth it and I
wanted to go to Romania this year anyway. I'm happy that I will be based in
Transylvania too - visit Dracula's castle, I'll be there in spring when the forests are
in bloom and so on.

By the way, I'll stay in a host family for 6 weeks - Romanians. Pure. Immersion. The
best way to learn :) Vom vorbi română în fiecare zi!

And aside from that, it's just great to sit there and not have to deal with job
interviews and so on all the time. I am sick of being unemployed...(tons of savings are
a good thing!)

Yeah, that sounds awesome. I had a friend whose parents were from Translyvania - we
always used to joke that she might be descended from vampires. That's going to be so
great.

And yeah, good luck with your continuing job search! You're obviously highly competent,
so I think it's just a matter of time before you find your dream job (or your dream job
finds you!). Romania will be a nice grace period to clear your head.

I know it can just get really old, the grind of filling out job applications. :-P
