I would enjoy reading your thoughts about language learning. Your post about your Greek teacher, in particular, was a great read. It made me think about my own approach to Spanish. And I loved your Muhammad Ali quote, by the way.

I would read your blog too. Even though we don't have the same goals and reasons to study languages (I am not aiming to conquer the world by travelling and speaking the languages of the countries I would visit), I always find it interesting to learn about non-
traditional approaches to learning languages. Plus you claim you're lazy, well, I would want to see clearly how do you manage to turn that to such a benefit.
And you have managed to realise the most (if not all) of your wanderlust goals. I would want to win the fight with that b**** too...

I'll come back and post when I've gone and conquered China then.

Ok. it looks like there is some sort of demand for such a blog, so I will have to
think about how to organize such a thing. It should be reasonably frequent and it
should also be reasonably legible (and this will be in English because I want it to
attract a wider audience).

Don't expect it to be the spiffiest site ever. I am not a layout wonder. If someone
can do better than Wordpress with setting up websites I'm all ears because I sure as
hell can't.

As for actual linguistic stuff, I'm reading Oblomov still and I've managed to do some
80 pages in the past two days. Not nearly enough because I keep falling asleep, but
maybe I will finish it before I leave Chengde. Maybe not. WE WILL SEE

I would definitely read your blog as well! Your Greek post was inspiring-- I really need to sit down and solve some problems in my languages. I wish I could afford a tutor to speak with, especially in Spanish, but alas....

Spanish? Just get a tutor from some Southern American or Central American country on
iTalki. They cost peanuts. You can find a good one if you search around a bit. Now if
you'd said "Chuvash"... I'd be a little confused as where to get that particular
resource, but Spanish is easy to find, same with Mandarin. Remember, these countries are
cheaper than the US and thus you pay their local rates, not your own. Of course if you're
at C1 level and you want to push your level further, might want to budget for a higher
section, but then you will need to put in the preparatory effort in my experience with
French and Russian.
